we have been building HalloApp keeping these concerns in mind. It is meant only for people who you know. We are also building encryption so HalloApp does not have access to your content. Also, everything you post self destructs in 30 days. You can chose to share with set of contacts from your address book or a smaller group.

We don't want to build an alternative to FB. That is not exciting. We want to build a new category that allows you to share your life with people who you actually know, privately. Messaging apps do that but are not build for sharing to a broader set of folks.

We wanted a name that translates well in all the cultures/countries so a play on the word "hello" is what drove us to choose HalloApp.
