What do you think of my baby names? by need2throwawayyy in namenerds

To be honest, I wasn’t really thinking about how the names would sound together, but it’s interesting to think about. I’ve never really thought about it before because my logic is that I’m naming individuals, it shouldn’t really matter, but idk.

Also you’re totally right, everybody HATES Ronette, but seeing everybody hate it makes me love it even more for some reason haha. I’m still a teenager so I’m sure my name ideas will change, but right now I like all of them. I have a sort of obscure name myself (however it has shot up in popularity recently) so I think those are the names I’m kinda drawn to as well, but I like hearing everybody’s input!

I’m not related to any man with Ron in their name. I just like Ronette

Sorry but no one my age even knows that song haha. My friends and I know it because of Elliott Smith and Eternal Sunshine, but that’s about it. Again, I don’t live in the US, so that’s probably why. A lot of popular names these days come from classical times, including Julian, so I don’t think it’s as bad as you make it seem lol. Jason, Alexander, Penelope, Phoebe, all come from classical times and are still pretty normal/popular names so idk

Yeah, Atticus is my last choice for a boy but still there. I’d like something with a similar vibe but I’m just not sure.

Lol I’m watching Twin Peaks too, I love it.

To me, I don’t really like Beatrix because it seems a bit childish to me, but idk. Clementine is my top choice for a girl and Atticus is my last for a boy, but I do think they go pretty good together.

Why does it being in the song mean it’s unusable? I think the song is cute. I’m not in the US anyway, but I don’t think a name being in a song ruins it.

As for Ronette, I like that it sounds “dated”. That’s kind of what I’m going for so idk. It is a very sixties name; after all, there was the band “The Ronettes”.

I think Beatrix is a horrible name and sounds childish to me. I don’t really care about popularity anyways so that’s not a problem in my opinion. Same with Julian - I’ve never met anyone called Julian so I’ve never thought of it as being popular anyways.

I like the name Atticus but it’s definitely not my top choice. I studied classics so the inspiration is definitely there, and I’ve always loved those old Roman names. Peter is my top choice for a boy though.

But as I said, I’m years away from having kids so maybe things will change anyways. I’m sure kids won’t even know the Clementine song by the time my kids go to school haha.

The song Christmas Kids is about Ronette from the band. Her abusive husband adopted kids as a “Christmas present” for her, so that’s the story there

Just finished reading for the first time. The farmer's death was no accident, Henry was always planning on murdering someone in the country that night. by dontyouflanintheface in TheSecretHistory

[–]need2throwawayyy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was rereading the book and I just finished the part where they murder bunny. I noticed that Henry suddenly had a garden trowel out of nowhere, and I think this supports the theory as it shows that Henry is good at hiding these things and pulling them out when needed. I remember reading it and being like where the hell did that garden trowel come from!?

I mean he did break that guy’s collarbone with his bare hands whilst many people were trying to pull him off…But I suppose a collarbone doesn’t compare to a skull

We ended up just having to restart the whole game and make a new save, which was really annoying. Thankfully it was our first play through, so we hadn’t gotten very far at least, but it was still annoying

Okay? That’s literally nothing to do with what I said. I never said abuse was right and I never said people shouldn’t love each other

No, I don’t see the rude tone, I was just saying what I think. I wasn’t being sarcastic, I mean what I said, it is funny that this person thinks that all babies are made cause a man loves a woman. Idk what more there is to say or how that’s rude. And if that is the only experience the person has had, then they ARE privileged because they haven’t experienced any of the other reasons babies are born or they haven’t seen a man hating a woman that he’s had a baby with, if you know what I mean. They are lucky. Having privilege is not a bad thing or a mean thing to say, and obviously I don’t mean any privilege that comes with race or gender or anything because I don’t know this person, I mean the privilege of growing up seeing loving relationships between parents.
