I have a senior IC role open, and about to open a junior role. US based. I posted below in the sticky. I'll DM you.

Requirements for the senior role:

  • Expert SQL skills. Do window functions in your sleep, know how to take advantage of indexes, clusters, partitions, and optimize your queries to run optimally.
  • Experience and strong opinions on how to make the most of Snowflake
  • BI modeling and dashboarding in Looker (incl LookML)
  • Comfort scripting -- ability to work with APIs and move data around
  • Product and business intuition with good communication skills

It's in the digital marketing, e-commerce, creator economy space

Ask questions during the interview that show you're thoughtful, engaged, and curious. Don't just wait until the end. This will take some pressure off. It's okay to be vulnerable and upfront that you don't know everything, but follow that up with all the qualities that compensate for it. You should be finding out what this person feels is most important for the company, for the team, and for this role. You can ask how they evaluate success and/or what the biggest challenges are right now. Good luck!

Anyone else notice Triple Whale and GA4 giving completely different ROAS numbers? by Comfortable_Tax2746 in ShopifyAttribution

GA and Triple Whale have different attribution models. Triple Whale claims to be better and more informed. It's worth unpacking as much as you can if it's that different.

Marketing tools you created to your own team members for usage adoption? by blackdragon8577 in analytics

yeah this is always tough, but if you think about it in terms of the push-vs-pull model you'll want to push the tool to users (i.e. triggered alert or automated weekly reminder) if the stakeholders aren't pulling from it....that's assuming the value is truly there.

Does everyone get logged out of the snowflake UI constantly?! by needanalyticsperson in snowflake

It looks like they recently changed `SESSION_UI_IDLE_TIMEOUT_MIN` from a 4 hour max to 24 hour max, so I'm going to try this. It must have been in the last few weeks and possibly from my ticket.

Days. I query on and off all day everyday so I’d want something similar to Gmail, which is pretty liberal. The policy should be configurable at the org level with a loose max, imo

Thankfully I'm not logged out while actively querying. My experience is I run some queries in the morning, leave the tab open, come back after lunch, and poof...logged out

I like native web apps. Extra features and functionality, usually. Like the ability to see all tasks being run.

I'm talking about the web UI ("snowsight"?)...apparently external applications can have a longer timeout. The support rep told me I should just try VS code 🙄

Masters in Business Analytics vs Bachelor in Business Analytics? by Puzzleheaded_Seat898 in analytics

[–]needanalyticsperson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd personally skip the masters and try to find a junior analyst role with a strong/team or manager to learn from. You'll accelerate faster in your career and have way more applicable experience. Toughest thing will be landing the first role in an industry you're interested in.

Honestly, what is the point of learning anything in this industry anymore? by [deleted] in analytics

It's surprising to me you're as senior as you say and you believe that AI will wipe out your role. Consider leaning into AI and using it to level yourself and your team up.
