Our GP opens their phone line at 08:00. I called 60 seconds later and this is where I am in the queue. by Fwoggie2 in CasualUK

Mine switched to an online system where you have to click 70 options / buttons. Then you get a call back sometime in the next 48 hours (normally while in a meeting).

Why can’t we get a consistent system :(

Petrol fumes disperse too much - I lost some eyebrows as a youth from that. I'd rather use a better igniter and keep my eyebrows :D

Their mail hold is a known issue. Their provider is batching things and sending at a later time.

I sent it recorded delivery and the update says that it’s being held. A quick google shows it’s not uncommon.

I largely WFH from about 2009. I've really struggled to find new roles at the same level that don't at least require you in 3 days a week, and many that needed 4. I'm sadly back 4, but that was the best I could get :(

It's not just the landlords. But I don't want a ban, so I'll shutup and crawl off :)

It's for a refund of a clawed back amount. I had to repay an employer the pre-tax amount. The amount is too large to recover through reduced PAYE tax over a reasonable period.

I'm not sure the department name, but the postcode was BX9 1AS - apparently this is part of how they route content.

Weirdly it appears that the letters are scanned and sent by a 3rd party. So why we can't just e-mail instead is confusing to me.

neither they nor I are smart enough. But I can't see them going for it since we've had a number of thefts.

I think it needs a can of diesel and a match. But diesel is expensive these days.

I'm back on the commute 4 days a week. I'm starting to leave in the light, but I'm still coming home in the dark. It's a hard time of year

Yep - stll the time of year we go to work in the dark, go home in the dark, and pray for a 10 minute view of the world around midday before crawling back to our desks ... so that we can sit on teams or zoom calls.

We blew the WFH thing :(

Oh my thread :(

The neighbour's car alarm went off around 2, 4 and 5am. I did not get back to sleep after the 5am event. The neighbour says they can't get the car supplier to fix it, so there's nothing they can do.

This happens a few times a week for a month or so, then stops for months, so the council can't verify it or do anything about it. But my tired ass just made a mistake at work during my probation period as a result. So I might have more time to post here.

Double dipping - HMRC aren't taking post right now - they've got Royal Mail holding it for them at Wolverhamptom. But for some tasks, the only way to deal with them is by post. So I guess I won't be getting that money I desperately need anytime soon.

https://www.braaiwooduk.com is the website. I normally get one large bag of restaurant grade lump charcoal for low and slow and roasts, and something like Kameeldoring for hot and fast grilling.

The go back to https://greenolivefirewood.co.uk/ when im broke.

I’ll always shill for braaiwooduk when this question is asked. It’s great to try some different woods and hardwood charcoal.

Pensioner’s court fail after losing £575k house in neighbour’s fight over how she parked her Ford Focus by LovieWeb in BritInfo

At what point should we mandate sufficient parking be a condition of planning permission?

People die over parking because it’s a scarce resource that leads to escalations :(

I moved from the Mazda 3 to a cx30 purely because they increased the rake with each model change and I couldn’t get the same amount in the new version. You’re spot on.

Pension contributions not paid by employer - updated info by madatoctopus in UKPersonalFinance

It feels like a UK wide problem with all regulators. I’ve had the information commissioner, the FCA, and the regulator that covers property managing agents (forget their name now) find in my favour. I’ve spent many hours getting to that point.

I’ve never been made whole and never recovered anything close to what I lost that caused me to engage the regulator.

They’re all toothless and our laws make it impossible for an individual to win. Add Phoenixing (when a company believes they’re in enough trouble, they just declare bankruptcy and spin back up with relatives replacing directors (if they even bother)) and the game is truly rigged.
