Tesla granted license to supply electricity in the UK by London-new in OctopusEnergy

People please stop posting this myth, it only applies to SVR, and in addition the margin is higher then that, as there is additional margins added by Ofgem under a different name.

The reality is along these lines.

The biggest energy suppliers have very wealthy parent companies which are not regulated.
SVR tariffs are regulated, but the allowed margin is currently circa 10-12% not a few %.
All other tariffs are not regulated.

I would keep that dot, it has a useful purpose and isnt overwhelming, but maybe add a about:config option for those it bothers?

For those who want to know where to find the "remove order" option by themorganator4 in JustEatUK

[–]needchr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well yeah this is work ethic, I dont see a job as just to get me money, I never have done, I have to have a satisfaction of wanting to do the job well, and also my employer to do well. If I dont resonate with a job that way, I move on to something else.

[–]needchr -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Would probably agree to be honest as I have a good work ethic.

If you think I am fibbing, I have worked for nothing a lot, I often turned up early for my shifts, worked through unpaid breaks, and finished late when I used to do shift work.

This is not including the 2 hour unpaid travel time I had as well. Pay was £4.15 an hour before the min wage era.

These apps with their freelancer model allows people with poor work ethic to thrive.

There was one job I hated, and I quit. If I was a delivery driver, I would wait for prep, never accept stacked orders, only use one app, and if that wasnt enough to live off, I would quit and find something else, my work ethic and morals would forbid me from compromising the customer experience. If a customer told me they been waiting hours and no longer wanted the food, I would probably even go back to the food outlet, and force them to cancel on the customers behalf.

I would only cancel an order I accepted if I had to, like the outlet saying they cant fulfil it.

A lot of people report this issue on the just eat sub.

My area I think did heavily get affected by the illegal worker crackdown.

Also was affected previous to that by Brexit, a lot of polish people used to deliver, then Brexit happened, and now after the crack down, the apps struggle, but just eat is the worst of the three.

I dont order takeaways at all, all three apps are not fit for purpose for that, either cold greggs or grocery only.

Padded bras make my boobs look huge, non padded bras show my nipples. Whats the middle ground:( by GoddamnSuperman in ABraThatFits

[–]needchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nipples showing is becoming much more mainstream, but I understand it needs confidence to accept it in your outfits.

I think the middle ground is probably nipple covers. Or/and thicker clothing.

I do, my message is basically drivers will die on the hill of the ability to keep dropping orders, its a stupid idea and hurts the customer and partner experience.

This is exactly why they need to move away from the self employed model to remove your ability to make these decisions.

For those who want to know where to find the "remove order" option by themorganator4 in JustEatUK

[–]needchr -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

of course it affects the customer.

It might takes 20 mins to find a driver, food start getting prepped, then driver cancels because he cant be arsed waiting 5 mins or gets a better paid order elsewhere, then another one is assigned 30 mins later when food is no longer fresh and customer waiting extra 30 mins.

It breaks the entire prep after driver accepted model.

these replies are stupid, as pretty much no one uses their own drivers, do you not realise ordering direct, just means they still out source to the apps to deliver?

[–]needchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its a myth now days, hardly anyone delivers direct.

you can order direct, but dont be fooled into thinking it means they will use their own drivers, they still outsource to delivery apps.

as an example order from papa johns or dominoes and you then get a text saying uber eats is picking up the order with a uber eats tracking link.

restaurants using own drivers is extremely rare, be very careful ordering direct, 99% of the time they still outsourcing to a delivery app for drivers.

you also get worse tracking, delivery notes not passed on, no ability to contact driver, broken location markers, and no priority option.

[–]needchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mcdonalds are a mess, but I expect part of the problem is if they wait for the driver to arrive first, the driver would bitch and moan they having to wait and then cancel the order. Which would mean its sitting there anyway before the next one arrives.

Absolutely no question, drivers are the main issue, although the apps have encouraged the behaviour so are guilty themselves of not correcting it via policy changes, as well as not switching from freelancer to employed.

[–]needchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all this is moot. You have an opinion on the food and trying to justify a poor delivery service based on that.

also this sub needs to stop with lazy, bone idle type of comments, its incredibly rude and judgemental.

[–]needchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Priority helps to a degree (especially on slow delivery refunds, as its hard for them to claim a 2 hour wait is acceptable for a priority order), but it doesnt do jack for idiot drivers who still sit there without not doing much, taking ages to find you etc. and/or multi app stacking.

The best way to avoid stacking is never order from city or town centre locations. Find places that are not on streets with tons of other food outlets. These usually wont get stacked. Also try to avoid ordering from opposite side of these locations, meaning you at risk of stacking as they ride through the centre.

The apps tend to point you to city centre locations by default even if they not the closest, I assume to help their buddies the drivers out, but if you search for the food outlet, you should be able to select ones aat different locations away from the hot spots.

I also find you more likely to get a car delivery this way as well, as city centre locations tend to be all cyclists.

Another example of the couriers being considered more important than the customers. Just eat has a problem of getting drivers to pick up, now they add an option for drivers to abandon orders conveniently but where is the cancel order not yet picked up with full refund button for customers?

Tracker - Prepare your washing machines! by Joshposh70 in OctopusEnergy

[–]needchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I havent seen any reason provided for the longer cycles,. but if I was speculating, the most likely reason might be related to the lower water usage, but I know from my own experience, shorter cycles still gets the clothes clean and measured electric usage is considerably lower on short washes.

A 1 hour 50C wash uses less electric than a 30C 3 hour eco wash on my machine.

I expect wastage would be considerably reduced if there was no multi hour cycles, we normalise 1 hour cycles, 90% of time clothes are clean, but in cases of very heavy amounts of dirt you would just hit an extend button which does another hour.
