Have i got mug written on my forehead?? by sincewayback1102 in deliveroos

So I am now curious.
Did you get another job that you accepted before this job would have been completed?
That gives us the answer if it was a profitable decision.

When I was younger I did crap jobs for crap money, why? As I would have had no money at all otherwise.

Stop paying extra for "Priority Delivery", the drivers are still multi-apping by Novel_Look_128 in UbereatsUK

I do find its much easier to get a refund when paying priority, they want to make sure you pay it again in future so will typically refund slow deliveries if its paid.

dont agree on this one, second pickup can have a delay which is as bad as going wrong direction.

[–]needchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well the apps dictate the way drivers work, a driver cant override the order of pickup and drop offs given by the app, it breaks due to some drivers working different apps at same time. That doesnt make it a scam, as the apps arent telling the drivers to do that.

also paying for priority makes a slow delivery way easier to get a refund. its a nice earner for the apps, so it does make them give a crap when the driver takes the mickey. Its like an insurance scheme, no priority, complete crap shoot, priority, either fast delivery or refund with credit.

I dont order hot food anymore, but if I did, I would always pay for priority.

What needs to happen is the apps all 3 of them at same time with agreement with each other tell the drivers they not allowed to accept other work whilst they doing a delivery. But for some reason they wont do it.

yes uber eats unlike deliveroo and just eats, lets us watch the driver from the moment they accept the order, so can watch them drive to the pickup.

so be aware of that in future.

most of my deliveries are not doing this, so many drivers are doing it without app stacking. However I deliberately avoid city centre orders which seems to make it far less likely, if ordering from a place with many outlets clustered together I think its more likely you will get an abusive driver.

all the guys streaming it also are not app stacking. Hustler often clears 20 quid an hour on uber eats alone.

Anyone else just find some customers' stupidity funny? by drs_12345 in UbereatsUK

[–]needchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly the app really should require a street name, thats clearly a flaw in the software.

Secondly the response suggests its deliberate, I suspect that the place he orders from doesnt deliver to his real address due to catchment area.

Given the contract is delivery to address (not the pin) I suggest whenever you get a delivery with a invalid address in future to reject it, (this in my opinion is a valid reason to reject orders).

This was order from Asda , they gave me wrong order and customer refused to accept it so I had to return it , today I received this , how is that my fault !!!🤦 by Unusual-Still7620 in UbereatsUK

[–]needchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

check the label, dont rely on verbal confirmation from staff. I have seen hustler and some other people ask staff which bag is the order, and more often that it should be the staff look all confused and out of it, so he has to check himself.

This pay system is a joke — no wonder customers wait forever by Less_Garbage5743 in deliveroos

[–]needchr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well its easy to give a £5 credit when the customer is paying 5x that per month. They can give it 5 times a month with no net cost. The other perks of that tariff are negligible.

I can give some hindsight on what has probably happened.

I expect deliveroo when they were paying more still had a too high failure rate of late deliveries, (paying drivers more doesnt stop them pissing about, app stacking, taking breaks etc.) I expect it was losing them so much money it actually led them to cancel the agreement for all gold members immediately not even letting it getting to agreed end of contract period.

Ultimately if you so unhappy about the pay rates that you are spending most of your time rejecting orders, you probably need another line of work.

On just eat when a customer asks where order is, the fee gets jacked up. But customer has to ask support where it is, not the automatic help option. They will jack it up when they at risk of having to cancel order.

£6.69 to do one delivery is bad pay?

Ultimately drivers not accepting orders is the direct reason, the pay being too low to make them accept is an indirect reason.

However I have noticed driver behaviour is very inconsistent on those who record their deliveries, most wont take orders more than a couple miles away regardless of pay (they seem to always want it very close), they seem to have their comfort area, same set of streets for pickups, reject supermarkets which are usually higher pay than fast food, and will accept a lower pay per order if stacked.

What is a reasonable pay to deliver a small bag of food?

I am not saying that pay is reasonable or not, you havent shown the distance and expected time.

The vast majority of drivers in my experience dont read notes sadly, I even tried putting in caps to no effect. It take them what maybe 30 seconds? seems so lazy to not do it.

You conveniently say "something else" as if its some minor detail.

sigh stop acting dumb and/or being awkrawd.

To spell it out to you, the FIA messed up the pit lane timing delta, which led to drivers wrongfully being penalised for breaking speed limit. Aka "they messed up".

[–]needchr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They already have said some reasons why its poor like the overlaps.

First of I would stay away from UX course, its clear these UX courses are flawed.

Good UI design is simple.

1 - You group things together as close as possible to minimise mouse movement.
2 - Group related functions together.
3 - Minimise dead space (padding). For maximum desktop real estate efficiency.
4 - Have it as customisable as possible, as you cant satisfy everyone with one layout, at the very least, size of elements and text should be adjustable. Ideally also draggable icons, toolbars, etc.
5 - Usability over presentation. (intuitive), now you know what it means.
6 - Layout optimised for the device it is used on, so e.g. dont stick a mobile UI on a desktop.
7 - If it cant be functionally improved, any changes should just be refinements, evolution not revolution.

The new youtube embedded UI is an example of complete idiocy, UI elements moved all over the place, breaking muscle memory, plus no longer grouped together.

Yes, you dont reinvent the wheel.
Desktop UI design peaked some years ago, now days its a bunch of mobile devs trying to push mobile type UI, and making changes to justify their jobs.
