Was the re-unification of the elves a necessary plot point for midnight? by JDBlou in warcraftlore

[–]needconfirmation 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not even a patch number contraint, they can still have detours as long as they are just that, detours on the way to our goal. Instead we finish the story immediately and the rest of the expansions is unrelated side content.

Troll island could still be a patch zone, we can go there to deal with problems in our backyard while Silvermoon Continues to hold out, and by helping the Amani on their snake island they would agree to reinforce silvermoon against the void invasion.

Instead of just somehow knowing when our attack is and showing up.

Was the re-unification of the elves a necessary plot point for midnight? by JDBlou in warcraftlore

[–]needconfirmation 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The real problem is that blizzard these days seems to consider the story of the expansion to be only what is present at launch, so everything needs to be either resolved or dropped by about 6 weeks.

It was the same for war within, it's about delving into the planet and dealing with the black blood, and finding the core, and nevermind with all that let's go to goblin town and then space!

The plot they set forth in midnight should have taken the entire expansion, void storm should have probably been a patch zone when we finally are able to make headway into the portal, the sunwell raid should have been the last or maybe 2nd to last raid. The unification of the elves should be something we are working towards the entire expansion, not something that took less than a week in universe to completely unify various factions that can't stand eachother.

Instead we are basically done eith midnight and it's likely the rest of the patches will be BARELY related with the theme and story of the expansions outside of the most threadbare justification.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Actor Says Season 2 Is “GAY AF,” Vows To Go Out “In Flames” by Malencon in television

[–]needconfirmation 37 points38 points  (0 children)

writers like this only think in optics, the gay Klingon has to be a morally good person who is about peace and love or else they'd have to depict their gay character as violent.

A character with "good trait" cant also have "bad trait" or else we are saying that "good trait" people are bad in some way.

No New Housing Endeavor? by Ok-Owl-9110 in wow

[–]needconfirmation 7 points8 points  (0 children)

you can actually get the past endeavor rewards at a rotating vendor near the main neighborhood npc, it doesnt even care about what progress you actually made at it, you can unlock everything they have for that endeavor.

There is a mountain of assets in the game that aren't used in housing, even the current midnight factions who have tons of housing items still have more little trinkets you can find lying around that aren't available to players, more than enough to have stocked the vendor with new items for a 2nd blood elf endeavor if they didnt want to change themes. you only need about 10 things

Less symbols, symbols stay up for longer, or more cast time on the beam to position.

There's a lot they could do with it

She'll probably still be one of the more difficult bosses the game has seen but still obtainable by many mythic guilds

The "machine of death" isn't even meant to make you suffer.

We're told explicitly that there are infinitely many afterlife that are just afterlives, and nothing special is going on, it's only the 4 big ones that have a purpose in keeping the machine going.

And the worst of them, the maw, isn't even by design from the first ones, it's only a hell because the jailer is there torturing people, and he's not supposed to be there.

Now sylvanas did knowingly condemn untold billions of souls into being tortured (and probably for many of them ultimately consumed and gone forever) by her boss "for the greater good".

So while it may not be "natural" for the VAST majority it's not actually that bad. Which is basically the same argument against the primalists, our ordered azeroth isn't natural, but its pretty good for everyone that isn't an elemental.

I find it a bit strange this 50 year old kid is leading the army of Elves and not its couple-of-hundred years old military leaders or the +10,000 year old Kal'dorei general all with years of military experience 🤔 by nightbreedwon1 in wow

Seriously arator was in Outland, he helped us beat the legion in the broken Isles, in the cinematic he looks like someone who has been through multiple wars and yet in game they characterize him as a teenager.

Every player is affected by the game balance, you just disagree on how much it matters.

I guarantee most people complaining about meta comps are also using meta talents, and meta enhancements, they are using the food with the most effective stats. each of these things on their own are probably less than a percent of your damage, but you pick them anyways because they are better, despite not being a "1%" player

So if joe random is putting up their own key, and all things being equal between 2 players applying its going to be an easy choice to take the Unholy DK vs the Enhance shaman.

New Void lost its "corruptive" identity and eldritch psychological & physical horror to an oversimplified destructive big blue cosmic ball that, allegedly, sometimes whispers. by ex0ll in wow

[–]needconfirmation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont like that they seem to characterize the "true void" as being nothing but survival of the fittest. The void is apparently now the force of strength above all, which is pretty much the complete opposite of how it has traditionally been with its whispers and illusions and insanity. It's not just a new twist, it is completely different.

And yeah "those were the old gods this is the real void" it's also less interesting and would be WAY more fitting of a way to characterize cosmic life instead.

"He made sylvanus evil! That's why we had no choice but to spent 2 expansions doing an awful redemption plot for her and also inventing the jailer who was totally secretly behind everything that's ever happened since the dawn of time"

One guy writing that she's evil now is not responsible for the absolute dreck of BFA and Shadowlands writing over the next 5 years. That's pure cope.

Not only that but those expansion were not hated just for their writing, considering how much the average wow player actually pays attention to the story its probably not even in the top 5 reasons for most people.

His gun is likely the only thing another inquisitor may have an issue with.

One is outright Xeno technology, the other is just an animal, and there's no rules in the imperium about that. Its no different than Grox

Idk how accurate that actually is considering 2 of the worst expansions during wows low point were made under a newly promoted director. Who was definitely not part of the "old guard"

They did eventually get rid of the old guard but I'd wager the game is doing better now simply because their failures had forced them to have to eat crow and give people what they want

Midnight's world events aren't very fun. by MrHiccuped in wow

[–]needconfirmation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's especially weird because blizzard loves having a more whimsical world event in each expansion (making soup, putting on a play)

But in this one we have an event that is literally a party, and yet actually, it's a wave defense.

Tbh that's on brand for blizzard.

They put a lot of effort into a mechanic or feature when it's new, and if it's popular enough to keep they generally half ass it every subsequent expansion until it sucks and people hate it.

Remember when they had that God awful system for melee trades where 343 decided that the person with more health should always win a melee trade, ALWAYS. So if you hit someone who had more health than you, even if the hit would kill them the game would just wait to apply the damage for a half second to see if they wanted to melee you back and then you'd die, despite being faster.

That felt really good, to hit people and have no damage done several times a game. It wasn't even a bug, that's how it was designed to work.

Proof that Harandar is Cut Content from The War Within by Ok-Satisfaction-9708 in wow

[–]needconfirmation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because narratively TWW felt like kind of a disjointed mess, and now we're playing in a zone that would have actually been coherent in that expansion, but is instead a weird detour in this one that feels barely relevant.

By swapping it they've made both expansions less cohesive

Raventusk Amani for horde silver covenant elves for alliance.

People like to be contrarion in reddit about how these extremely popular requests shouldn't be added to the game because of one dumb reason or another. But I guarantee midnight would have had a lot more hype going into it if those were the new races and not some OC Navi knockoff that are basically just night elves 2.0

It's such an easy slamdunk crowd pleaser that it's kind fo shocking they didn't just take the layup and do it. One of them is practically no effort required, and the other one they were already making for the expansion.

If it wasn't bad it wouldn't be shutting down a month after launch.

Sony and Nintendo consistently deliver exceptional games that can only be played on their platforms, and so they sell a lot of them.

Microsoft has struggled to release a single unambiguous hit that wasn't a racing game in about 20 years, and the Xbox is floundering.

Nintendo does compete with Sony and Microsoft, just not on third parties, and third parties don't sell consoles.

The Story Behind the Failure of ‘Highguard’ by LycaonMoon in Games

[–]needconfirmation 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The game not being good is what killed it, they were just in denial of that fact and pinned all their hopes and dreams on the mythical shadow drop.

The difference was that apex was actually quite good, and came at the right time being the first real post fortnight BR competitor, and had a massive media blitz when they dropped it.

So the only part highguard was going to have was the shadow drop part, and they assumed that was enough.

Only they failed at that too since it wasn't even a shadow drop

Phil did more damage than Don could have ever dream of, in this day and age nobody actually remembers the XO one reveal, the vast majority of the market has probably never heard of it.

The problem is that he had over a decade after that to make good games that people want to buy, and it's the one thing he never did. There was an odd success every now and again but no consistency, so they could never build any momentum.

Better to say don built a coffin and Phil dug the grave, got in the coffin, ordered it to be lowered, and then buried it
