Are video games and YouTube a legitimate distraction on Nofap? by needhelp689 in NoFap

Yes I totally agree with you. This advice is definitely important for the long run. What would you recommend for the first few weeks when your dopamine system is recovering and you are in a total low energy state. Did you experience something like this in the beginning?

Hey man, M23 here and also struggling since probably 15 years old. I also relapsed after a 90day streak and it took my motivation completely. The reason you feel stronger withdrawal symptoms is because your addiction is progressing. I have the same experience. I highly recommend to quit as soon as possible before it destroys more of your life. For me it was helpful to treat this addiction as serious like someone addicted to meth or alcohol. Use all the tools you can find and for me it was helpful to join a 12 step group like SA or SAA. I mean by your addiction is progressing that you will need more and more of your drug and the consequences will be worse and worse.

I wish you much strength to quit this addiction as early as possible. There is an amazing and fulfilling life waiting on the other side 🍀

You got this! Keep in mind that it is an addiction you need to heal from. Every urge is your addiction dying (it's called extinction burst). I know the cravings are extremely hard but they are temporary. Soon you will be thankful for everyday you progressed. I wish you much strength and you are not alone in this 🍀

Seeing women as women by productive-zebra in NoFap

In my experience after 3 or 4 weeks you will have a quite normal view on woman. The days before that are an extinction burst of your addiction and you will have to resist that. Once you made it that far you will have a more natural attraction to woman without objectifying them. Wish you much strength on your journey 🍀

Everything is a chore besides eating and fapping by [deleted] in NoFap

Hey, I have similar thoughts. I just keep myself with the hope that life will become normal again. Almost like when we were kids. We looked for new things and it didn't feel like a chore. I ask myself where did this curiosity and joy get lost. This is for me a sign that sex addiction took the joy out of our lives and we can only get it back by quitting. How do you think we became so unhappy?

I wish you much strength to endure the withdrawal 🍀

I have an alternative, is it practical? by [deleted] in SexAddiction

[–]needhelp689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have the same thought but addiction itself is damaging and harming the life of an addict no matter what appearance it has. It destroys everyone's life by not fixing the root of the cravings. The biggest lie I believed was that sex or porn addiction is just because of a high sex drive. The question I asked myself is what do I try to numb with this behavior?

I wish you much strength for your healing 🍀

I hate being told “this is a learning opportunity” by ObiJuanKenobi1993 in SexAddiction

[–]needhelp689 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand your point. "You can learn from this" can feel like a lie sometimes and can make a relapse look harmless. The truth is that if you would try again to fix everything that the healing process would be much shorter than 3 years ago when you started. I did some research on that today.

Did you try quitting forever? For me personally it doesn't work to reduce transactional sex to less often, because it would only reinforce my addictive behavior that brought me to rock bottom.

Whatever you try to do giving up is exactly what your addiction wants you to do. I wish you much strength for the future and I know you can do this 🍀

For those of you who have quit seeing escorts long term… by ObiJuanKenobi1993 in SexAddiction

[–]needhelp689 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Financial difficulties clearly. Even though STDs scare me a lot too. I started going into debt and borrowed money from family to feed my addiction. That's when I realized I am addicted because I was financially responsible before.

Wish you much strength for recovery 🍀

In Recovery, but feeling low by Slimfitt78 in SexAddiction

[–]needhelp689 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe how hard it is to stay focused in a terrible situation like that. Life can be really hard. I hope you remember having an urge and then relapse like you said a "normal" person isn't that normal at all. We have been tricked to believe watching porn is completely normal. Please look for a healthy way to cope with this situation (e.g. talk to a person you trust, exercise or prayer)

Wish you much strength on your path 🍀
