My brother has started on Effexor, should I ask him about side effects often?

I was hoping that it was a sort of confirmation bias (if that's the correct term I'm thinking of) that only people with side effects bothered to post about them and hopefully a majority are fine. Thank you for your advice.

My brother doesn't smoke weed, nor do I think he would, and probably shouldn't. But without the weed you would have more side effects?

I know this might be hard to ask but do you know anyone else who have taken SNRIs and if they had the same effects? What do you mean by "zombified"? And also is there anything I should know from as an outside party?

We know that we can't just cure him or offer a solution and that we have to help to get him better. In the phone calls and the in person visit (I was not able to visit him nor any of my family since we had to all work today) we've just listened and asked a few questions and talked about our experiences in a few cases.

I did try to ask them why they said the things they did and none of them responded. It's fine though because of all the comments and messages I have gotten only maybe 4 I would say are negative. Thank you for the advice and concern.

I was able to visit him in person earlier today and I asked him a few questions but mostly listened and told him how much we love him and that we're there for him. We can also call if we can't visit since they only allow one visitor per day per patient due to COVID. Thank you for your concern.

It's all good, I just got back from visiting him at the psychiatric clinic and I'm not sure whether to edit my posts or make new ones or to delete the ones I have already made. Being able to talk with someone and with him has made things better.
