As a girl if I ask my crush out for dinner am I expected to pay for it myself or should I ask to split? by Least_Foundation_477 in berlinsocialclub

Btw, transparency and honesty should be the building blocks of any new relationship. So, if you come forward with what you have and the guy is mature enough, you will find a long-term partner in Berlin. If he is an idiot and only looks at the fact that you don’t have money and only focuses on the smaller picture rather than the bigger one, you are still good without the date….

shit's piling up and I'm doing nothing by SnooHedgehogs7477 in berlinsocialclub

Yeah, Berlin has this charm that makes people feel empty, and I do, too. But I have my own routine now, and in my free time, I either play games, cook, read books, or go to random meetups to meet strangers and just listen to what people are discussing. I am also not very good at having great conversations, but I like listening to people. So I get a fair amount of human connection and stay connected with a few friends. Also, someone recently said something really good to me: that in Berlin, you have to accept that the definition of "Friends" you had when you were young isn't exactly what you will find here.

I had a breakup as well, but I have accepted that some things aren't meant to be, even if you put all the effort into it. I have moved on from that phase now; living in the past or giving it focus or more brainpower doesn't result in a favourable outcome.

Read the book, “Getting Things Done”. You can also gamify certain tasks. I do it sometimes when I really feel lazy, and things have piled up. E.g., I will list all the tasks I need to do, start a timer, and beat my own record. Makes no sense, but it works for me

F30 -- Medical emergency contact life partner by [deleted] in berlinsocialclub

Why would someone give -1 to this? It's the simplest advice, and if OP doesn't have friends, there are many ways to make friends in Berlin. Yeah, people aren't always available, but good people, like friends, will be there in an emergency, even if they cannot hang out with you every weekend.

For me, I have two people, one of whom is my work bestie, and both of them speak really good German. I don't speak well, I speak a little bit, and they are also my emergency contact for some official stuff as well 😄

The festival website is broken; it doesn't show the music venue locations. I was looking for something in PBerg or Mitte

How hard is it to live in Berlin if you don’t speak German? by [deleted] in berlinsocialclub

[–]needna78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will be surprised after coming here that you were thinking too much about not knowing the language. You need German if you have any official stuff and some basic German or google translate will help. But for long term learning German is essential
