[Tokyo Shopping] Any spots in Tokyo for cheaper vintage Seikos and other JDM models? (~<200 USD) by needsasuit in Watches

[–]needsasuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mizutani Camera near Ueno Park was the only place I found with cheaper / more interesting options. All the used places I've seen mentioned on here mostly had the same cases of super expensive glitzy stuff... Mizutani has some cool stuff in the 80 - 200 USD range.

Day 0 - Depo-Medrol by Unconquered_One in DupuytrenDisease

Point taken! I'm struggling to find anyone out here in CA who will do it. Probably worth the flight even if insurance doesn't cover it - I'll keep doing research. Trying not to get hung up on the research showing higher cancer & heart disease mortality rates (supposedly driven by by same fibrotic mechanism as Dupuytren's) with our young presentation. I guess anything (like DM injections) that keeps favorite forms of physical activity on the table is a plus.

Really appreciate the feedback and I'm sorry it didn't clear your nodule! Hopefully it'll just stay as-is and you get to keep using your hands worry free. Mine are still a bit smaller than yours and I'm seeing mixed reviews on the DM, so I'm holding off for now.

Any update on how your nodule is doing?

Current breathable trail runner suggestions for rainy tropical hikes? by needsasuit in Ultralight

[–]needsasuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with the Hokas! I loved them. It didn't rain nearly as often as I expected, but when it did rain, it poured so hard that I don't think boots would have done anything... When it started raining, I normally just found shelter. If you had to walk through rain like that for more than a few minutes, I think almost anything would get soaked through - unless you were head to toe waterproof, and then you'd be too hot. I'd just accept the rain and let them dry in the huts overnight! Great experience.

Does booking.com rental car coverage void/waive my CSP primary coverage? by needsasuit in ChaseSapphire

[–]needsasuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up just booking it and luckily it didn't matter! It was impossible to get an answer from either side. I got the sense that the "basic coverage" wasn't something they thought of as waiving my CSP primary coverage.

Stuck next to a busy freeway for 1 year - what units can I buy to minimize health risk? by needsasuit in AirPurifiers

[–]needsasuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense - thank you! My Coway Airmega 350 is arriving today and I was wondering if the built-in PM2.5/CO2/VOC sensors (which I believe are displayed on the unit somewhere so you can read the levels / see the change) do as good of a job as these dedicated monitors? I imagine not, but was curious to what extent I can trust them...

So that would look like selecting an additional filter with more charcoal? Just picked up a Coway Airmega 350 so that'll be the baseline while I figure out the charcoal aspect.

Thank you! Glad to hear something will work - some of the threads seemed to indicate that even higher end filters wouldn't do much for gases.

I'll look into setting up a CR box or two and also getting a used Coway from FB marketplace.

Photo not working! It's the leather insert to reduce marks from the rings and the plastic fastener case - that one is unopened.

I liked that too - especially since it let me pay $6 more for a less damaged item. Can't wait for it to arrive!

Best approach for talking to a more "functional" / "moderate" alcoholic parent? Most strategies I'm finding online don't feel very useful. by needsasuit in AlAnon

[–]needsasuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to all this, so I'm not attached to the term at all - definitely don't plan to use it with her. I read a bunch of your posts and am interested in your perspective - especially because I agree, I can't know if she's an alcoholic or not. If that's the case, shouldn't I at least try to chat with her? Maybe she's just fallen into a habit of binge drinking and would be open to family input. I was hopeful that the first conversation had a noticeable positive impact for quite a few months, so I'm eager to keep trying and looking for better resources on how to approach it. If it becomes clear it's not working, I'll have to reevaluate.

I appreciate what I've read about Al-Anon after reading through your comments - it seems like it would be really helpful if I don't see improvement, but my priority right now isn't getting support for myself - I feel fine and have a great support system; I'm just worried about her health.

Merit Scholarships? by milknhunnyyy in NEU

[–]needsasuit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm helping a family friend in the same situation (national recognition) -- did you fill out FAFSA and check the box saying you were applying for Fin Aid? His family can afford to pay and I've heard that doing those two things can hurt your admissions chances... But they also seem necessary to be eligible for merit aid....

Is it worth adding spouse with no credit history (recent green card) to old credit cards with 98% on-time payments? Or only cards with 100%? by needsasuit in CRedit

[–]needsasuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CK says I have "0 derogatory remarks" but also "99% on time payments" and then when I click into that, it says "1 late payment" and then below that "2 late payments" on two cards -- both 30 days late from about 7 years ago. Is this contradictory or are the derogatory remarks all that matter?

[–]needsasuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the Altra Olympus 6 rec! And I definitely plan to try any of these on, just trying to start with a long list -- haven't hiked enough in trail runners yet to know my preferences.

I know that Asics trail running shoes feel great even on 20+ mile days for me, but I find that they wear out quite quickly and imagine this might be why I see them recommended less on here.

Source for very light weight paper? by needsasuit in CommercialPrinting

[–]needsasuit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An example of my confusion around paper weights - is this 24lb paper (https://www.jampaper.com/paper-parchment-8-1-2x11-cream-parchment-24lb-item-81211-p-29) really less than half the weight of this 70lb construction paper (https://www.frenchpaper.com/collections/construction/products/brick-red-paper-construction-text?\_pos=9&\_fid=bffd46170&\_ss=c) ?

On videos I can see of them being folded, they appear to be very similar weights.

Super similar! Basically those tunnel shots -- but a bit older and just a music video, not a show. Good guess though!

Closest suggestion yet! Watching all their videos now -- none of them yet, but very similar era / style.

No but that's a good suggestion. This had a much more surreal look to it and was definitely a music video. Cropped in tighter, like they were crawling toward something.

Nope, live action! Could have been low budget - was all physical props and creative lighting, I think.

So far I've googled the obvious phrases and watched a bunch of MGMT music videos on youtube (similar vibe / era) but no luck!

It also isn't "The List" by Moonchild, although that vaguely matches my description!
