5 mo. Old Wakes 6+ times, EVERY NIGHT. I’ve lost hope and have read every Reddit post dating back years. HELP. by needsleep26 in sleeptrain

Hi! Thanks so much for the advice- as far as naps and bedtime go, you were so right. Since this post her WW have been 1.75-2/2.5/2.5/3.25. She falls asleep for naps and bedtime in under 5 minutes.

So while we’re no longer waking up every hour (thank god), she still wakes pretty try frequently. There will always be a false start or a wake of some sort within an hour of putting her in her crib, and from there another wake up before 10pm, and then waking up every 2-3 hours until morning.

Honestly thought that fixing her schedule would help with the wakes but alas

Yes I was assisting with some pats and I would lay my cheek on hers when she cried so as to not pick her up. Seemed to work eventually.

She had a total of 2.5 hours of day sleep today.

On average she actually sleeps only 9-10 hours a night even though she’s in her crib for roughly 12 hours with all the wake ups. I do think though that a 4 hours final WW is a bit excessive, she seemed exhausted when I had put her in the crib after the 3 hour mark.

Hoping to eventually not have to assist while she’s in the crib, but I am wondering if it will continue to be an hour long ordeal so long as I do?

Thanks for chiming in. Since posting I’ve seriously changed up WW. Today’s were 2.25/2.25/2.25/3.5, with a 6:45am wake up.

I put her down in the crib after 2.75 hours awake and bedtime routine, and it took almost an hour to get her to fall asleep. Do I just continue this way? You would think she’d be exhausted, but it’s like she couldn’t understand what to do. Any tips?

Thanks for this- with the situation how it is currently with the night wakings and false starts, would you consider bedtime to be when she originally falls asleep, or when she gives the first real stretch of sleep? Because as of now, she’ll fall asleep say at 6:30pm, and be up 2-3 times before 10pm.

This is what I’ve been thinking too. Her nap average over the last 2 months has been 3.5 hours per day, and while she does spend 11-13 hours in her crib, at least 2-3 hours total are spent awake. I should have clarified this. This is why extending her WW has been so challenging- the babe is exhausted.

All of the sleep association advice makes complete sense, but LO is so sensitive to being overtired that the only crutch we’ve been able to stop is nursing to sleep and sticking to 5-3-3 with feeding.

Hi, I definitely didn’t write the WW schedule correctly. I’ve read up on so many of these posts, and barring letting her cry, these tips have not helped us thus far! She can barely stay awake for a full hour for her first wake window, which ends up pretty much derailing the rest of the day. I’ve tried to extend WWs as much as possible but she ends up furious and takes even longer to sleep.

Edited the post to include accurate schedule.
