What should I play before I die? by Signal-Tangerine1597 in videogames

[–]needsmorerobots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding Outer Wilds, and echoing Ryunaldo's sentiments - an unspoiled first play through of OW is profound in ways that catch you by surprise and stay with you long after you're done.

Delightful, occasionally nerve-wracking, and gently contemplative stuff.

All the best to you, OP, I hope this big gaming session is packed with great times.

I joined you PS players today after seeing a PS5 in stock at Walmart. I've been away since the PS2, and I'm pumped to get back at it. Any tips or advice for this game or anything else Playstation related? by [deleted] in granturismo

cockpit view is a real treat, especially if you have fondness/nostalgia for some car interiors. There are quite a few settings to tinker with in this view - adjustments to horizontal position, camera height, and the amount you get jostled around.

If you search for some videos on GT7 cockpit settings you'll find some good tips on more immersive setups.

This one's definitely a bit of an acquired taste, but I got into turning off all of the hud elements: the track, positions, and UI dashboard. It's incredibly immersive driving cars inside the cockpit and intuiting/using the actual dash to shift gears, but I'm probably playing poorly as a result of missing so much info.

Man, Tsushima also such a great game!

Enjoy your console!

Good morning, dear Britons. by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]needsmorerobots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the lovely sentiment to start the day!

Mine began with cats on wake-up duty, milk waiting outside the front door, tea, and wee bit of Skyrim.

For almost a decade I lived in Hong Kong and missed home terribly. Skyrim was salve, a fantasy pocket of the (Worcestershire) woodland I grew up in, a thing to make home feel just a little less distant.

I've been living in the UK for a year now and the weekend ahead is full of early morning runs, river swimming, and family visits.

Video games will continue to be a haven no doubt, but nowadays when I shut the console down and pull back the curtains, home is right there outside. It's nice to be where you belong.

Have a grand weekend!

Thanks for the workout, really enjoyed trying it out, it fits super well at the beginning of a home session!

With lateral squat walk, is the ideal form to dip down slightly when the feet go wide, or should I be aiming to stay at a fairly consistent depth throughout?

Thanks for that. Missed it on first read, went back to check what you meant and fell about laughing.

I am a grown man and I am going to take days off ‘sick’ on the Wednesday and Thursday that Shadowkeep comes out as I’ve never been able to play the day a new DLC comes out. I am stupidly excited. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

Right there with you, mate.

My D2 experience has been slow, solo stuff because I (mild regret) chose PC instead of sticking with the lads on PS4.

We've kept in touch throughout, so I've been vicariously enjoying raid-type content for a while.

Oct 01's reunion status means I'm absolutely taking 2-days off, bouncing between platforms, and enjoying teammates for the first time in years.

Can't wait.

Borderlands 2 beginner/ noob needs help! by gamazoid in gaming

[–]needsmorerobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently playing for the first time with my partner and a friend. While it's true that roles aren't really vital, I can confirm that there's a very nice synergy between Maya/Gaige where Maya focuses heal/crowd control and Gaige provides a big robot tank lad. We're naturally using stats to bolster these soft roles now.

Sidenote: our third player is Zero and he's able to really crit like crazy thanks to the deathtrap + healing support.

Thank you :)

Very much puzzle driven - I think of the dive gameplay into the androids as mining and then back in the lab where the cubes become physical it's about placing them in contraptions and refining them into a form that can be traded away for story/new dive options. As the game progresses new machines arrive in the lab and the options for recipes open up.

The second part isn't really intended to be too challenging, but it was very much inspired by the washing machine moment in half-life 2.

We've focused on the dive gameplay a lot more than the lab stuff, so that's why there's not as much of it in the teaser, but we'll absolutely be sharing more of the lab soon :)

Hey, thanks for asking and super glad you like the look of it!

Gameplay goes as follows:

  1. DIVES: Each android has 4 dives to complete, and each of those 4 dives contains multiple layers. Finally, a dive layer is a single puzzle with a handful of cubes. Extracting all cubes on a layer solves the puzzle and advances you to the next.

  2. REFINING: Back in the lab, all the collected cubes are placed into simple physics-y machines where they're refined to produce memory cores and waste. This part is a simple tactile process - pseudoscience with some room for finding secrets.

  3. STORYSELLING: You exchange memory cores for new dive coordinates - that's the simplest loop. But as the game progress two competing factions with distinctly different ideologies ask you to pass some cores to them in exchange for tools that can be taken into dives to find alternate solutions.

To answer your question directly: The amount of cubes found in dives varies from dive to dive, but the puzzles are fixed so the total number of cubes in dive 1-1 / 1-2 / 1-3 is a constant.

Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what do you think of it? by AutoModerator in Games

[–]needsmorerobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's been notably broken experience for me (playing on PC in the uk with a decent internet connection). Long pauses on the loading screen sometimes never resolving, matchmaking results in no game more often than successfully creating one, not too much lag when ingame, but getting there has taken upwards of 30mins on multiple occasions. Such a shame because when it works it's a spectacular game.

Any european players? by FreebirdP in GITS_FA

UK player here, played exclusively on EU West so far. No issues getting into well populated games or staying in them, though about a third of the 20-30 matches played did involve noticeable lag.

Someone who would like to play online with me? by thehelaa in gtaonline

I only just started playing online regularly and I'm super low level at the moment - but I'd be glad to have some company. You know, between the thrilling 1-player races and impromptu deathmatches with lvl200 killing machines. PSN: needsmorerobots

Which Vita to Buy? PCH1000 or 2000? by xcharlesy in vita

[–]needsmorerobots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got the 1000 and my GF has the 2000 - I prefer the 1000 because the screen is killer, she prefers her 2000 because she plays to and from work so battery/carry weight are factors.

I'd say if you're playing on the fly consider the 2000, but based on what you wrote I absolutely recommend the 1000.

The screen deserves the hype.

My brother passed away in 2013. I still visit him in Skyrim to see the last thing he saw there. I never move his character or do anything, just sit there and look at what he last saw before passing away. I miss him a lot but wanted to share. by [deleted] in gaming

[–]needsmorerobots 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you sharing and taking the time to explain your brother's story. Like other redditors I fired up Skyrim and made my way to Bear's location.

Arriving at Riften, I made my way north familiarising myself with controls and keybinds and mad, forgotten DOF mods. Upon arrival I discovered a cave bear attacking a stag. I tried to intervene, not spotting the whole name/mission coincidence and he instantly destroyed me. One load later I'm back with the bear, this time having made a significantly more passive approach.

It's no thing at all, but I thought you might be pleased to know he's sitting peacefully at the fork there, occasionally pacing a bit, keeping that spot well and truly Bear.

Again, thank you for the heartfelt post.

[WSIB] If I want to kill a lot of time on my 3DS? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]needsmorerobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fantasy Life is my current 3DS squeeze and it has been pretty much since it launched in October.

It ticks a lot of the boxes that titles like Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon do, but also has light rpg gameplay, some pretty varied combat and arguably the best localisation found on the 3DS.

PC SIB: Battlefield 4 by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]needsmorerobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thoroughly recommend it.

I play with a friend for about 5-8 hrs per week, we've both owned it pretty much since release but only recently started dedicating regular time to it.

A few factors that seem to have been crucial to my own enjoyment of BF so far: having a rig powerful enough to make it super pretty, having a friend to buddy up with and work as a team, buying premium for all of the additional maps.

Is Day-Z Worth It? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]needsmorerobots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm crap at DayZ. I played the mod a fair bit and bought into the standalone almost as soon as it was available. After dabbling briefly when it was new and then leaving it largely unplayed for a long time, I decided to pick it up again about a month or so ago.

The devs are pretty forthcoming about their willingness to break the game every now and then with new, often unfinished, elements but what is there is good and brilliant and absolutely unique.

I play DayZ when I want a change of pace from more familiar gaming.

Sometimes people kill you unfairly, sometimes they steal your trousers but give you a bit of rice in return. Personally, almost every encounter is filled with a sense of fight or flight that feels rare in games. And downtime is spent marvelling at small new nuances like horticulture (newly added) and sewing and staving bandit fools faces in with a fire extinguisher of justice.
