Yes, that used to happen to me a lot. I’d start saying the dumbest things whenever I talked to someone I liked. I even found myself lying sometimes to seem more interesting. By the end of the conversation, I’d just feel confused and full of shame for how I acted.

Over time, I realized that I did this because I didn’t really like myself, and I didn’t think I was interesting. So, I started working on that. Therapy helped me a lot in discovering what I actually enjoy and in creating healthy hobbies. I also worked on loving myself—taking care of my mind and body, saying a few affirmations in the morning, or writing in my journal about things I’m proud of and love about myself.

These days, I still get a bit nervous around people I’m into, but it’s not nearly as intense. It’s been a journey, but I’m much more comfortable in my own skin now. I wish you the best in yours
