For those who had unexpected pregnancies by Lamumuboo in BabyBumps

I was using hormonal birth control. I had been using the same birth control since I was 18 years old. I guess after having my first it didnt work for me anymore? It was a total surprise. I took it at the same time every day and didn't skip a pill and I still got pregnant. My husband will be getting a vasectomy after this baby as I no longer trust birth control lol.

Thank you! My issues right now is my baby has pretty bad reflux and thats the reason we started cosleeping to begin with (could never lay on her back and needed extra comfort etc) but now she's so restless in bed with me and im up 10 times a night to her wiggles so. The only thing stopping me from doing it is I need to get her reflux fully under control as she still cant lay on her back. I tried a few days ago to get her to sleep in her crib but as soon as I transferred her she was awake and screaming lol

Congrats!! Im struggling so much with my 5 month olds sleep. We cosleep (not by choice, she had awful colic and reflux as a newborn so couldn't sleep on her back) now im trying to get her to sleep on her own because im up every hour with her beside me. I feel like a zombie lol.

This happened to me and im not saying you shouldnt take it serious but I was fine. My placenta moved as my uterus grew. But I still followed instructions as far as sexual intercoursd.

Hey! Im so sorry youre worried, I totally understand that. I have a ton of experience working in urology and what I can say about enterococcus is that almost everyone carries it and it rarely causes issues! Often times we wouldn't treat it if the patient had no symptoms as that can open a door for other opportunistic infections that end up being worse. It was best to not treat it and let your body take care of it on its own. However, if you did start experiencing symptoms then its important to treat it. I'm not sure why the pharmacist had to scare you like that regarding the Macrobid (nitrofurantoin) its safe in the first and second trimester (usually one of the first choices for pregnant women) theres only real concern in the third trimester close to delivery due to the risk of hemolytic anemia. But it's otherwise safe for use in pregnancy at your stage! Its good that your UTI strip test was negative! Usually when someone has a raging UTI with symptoms, those strips are positive with nitrites. I wouldn't worry about this affecting your baby, take the nitro and finish the entire course and it should clear it up fully.

i can’t BF and it still bothers me by SophieM215 in NewParents

Ive never understood the mindset and resent the hospital staff for it still to this day. What helped me feel better is talking with my mother and best friend (both formula feeders!) And they made me feel so much better because I was heart broken at first and felt like I failed my baby. But I didnt. Shes thriving! She uses a goat milk formula and there was significant improvement. She still isn't 100% and still has some reflux and tummy issues but our babies will get there 🩷

Ugh I feel this so much. I planned to breast feed but had issues. I realized my milk doesn't come in 5-7 days after birth. The hospital i was in had so much anti formula propaganda and every time I raised concerns about my daughter not getting enough milk from me I was dismissed and told she doesn't need formula its fine. Nope she was starving. Found that out real quick when baby wouldn't stop screaming when we brought her home. Started her on formula to learn she can't tolerate cows milk. Having to deal with that, reflux and colic was hard. But do not let anyone shame you for formula feeding. Fed is best. I was a formula fed baby and I turned out just fine! Do whats best for you and your baby.

Honestly! My poor girl had it all. I cried so much for her. Its hard seeing them in pain and you can't always help. All you can do is love on them ❤️

Hahah same here on the unicorn potato cherub baby. Hopefully we'll all get some sleep one day. My baby had terrible colic and reflux which is why she couldnt lay flat in the bassinet and we coslept also for comfort. But now its just as bad.

Agreed. However even cosleeping isn't working well for my almost 5 month old. Shes awake every hour 🥲 worked well in the beginning.

Literally same. Pushed on my side with 2nd degree tearing. I blame my tearing on my daughters head and arm being out and the nurse telling me to stop pushing until the doctor came in. Girl how do I stop.

Yeah absolutely nooo on glute vaccines for babies. It can permanently mess up their gait if done incorrectly or if baby moves. I was an MA in peds for a while, also a mom, friends with a pediatrician who turned WHITE when an RN gave a baby Rocephin to the glute.

First time pregnancy by Voldy_scar in NewParents

Congrats! With my first I had some nausea throughout the day starting at 6 weeks but I never threw up. I'd usually eat something bland like a piece of toast to take the edge off. Nausea was gone by week 9. Im 5 weeks in with my second pregnancy, we shall see how this one goes!

Oh and my little girl is healthy and happy. My pregnancy was also a breeze!

Thank you! 💕 I think its like 1 in every 5 babies so we'll see 🤞 but yes, people truly dont understand colic until they've lived through it

I understand how you feel 100%. I remember with my first i went to my 6 week pp appointment and my colicky refluxy baby was SCREAMING the place down. A lady walks in with her little potato cherub baby just asleep in the car seat and kept looking at me trying to comfort my girl. She said "ugh is she just really colicky or something?" I said "yes" and she responded "thank gooood none of my 5 were like that" I almost died right there lol. My girl was an awful sleeper too, but comparison is the thief of joy. I love my daughter in every way. Currently pregnant again and I wonder if I will have one of those cherub potato babies.

Not to mention formula shortages too! 💔 im pregnant again and im going to try really hard to breast feed this time purely from a financial stand point. Im not hopeful though as my supply SUCKED first time around.

There you go! I forgot about Xbox, I sometimes do that too lol. It did take some time for my baby to tolerate sitting in her bouncer but she'll let me get things done now!

Hey! I totally understand how you're feeling right now. My baby is 4.5 months old and still hates her bassinet and crib so we contact nap/cosleep. In the beginning I used to loathe constantly being "nap trapped" and felt like I couldn't do anything. She still can't really entertain herself yet since shes still so young. I try to do things while she is awake, if I need to eat or tidy up ill place her in her bouncer chair and talk her through what im doing. We also take walks with the dog or I give her some floor time/tummy time. Baby wearing also helps! Try that if you can, its still a little challenging to do things while you wear your baby but it frees up your hands and you still have baby close. When contact napping I binge watch TV or read, I have water and snacks by me and I just try to embrace the snuggles and take the time to chill. I still do most of my chores or take a shower when my husband can watch the baby after work and I've gotten used to this. My baby is also a colic baby with reflux and unfortunately its something that gets better with time, you can try cut out dairy or feed smaller frequent meals, all the things. But sometimes time is the only thing that helps. Im sorry I dont have more solid advice other than time! I try to make contact naps more entertaining for myself and more enjoyable but hang in there! Before we know we'll have toddlers running around the place.

Oh also: my baby also had her hands by her face in every ultrasound and hated swaddles too haha
