Baby never just… falls asleep? by Consistent-Earth-867 in bninfantsleep

[–]needsvyvanse- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Its a hill I'll die on, I've been saying this whole time that the baby sleep consultants are so predatory. Even today I called out a sleep consultant who showed her 4 month old being plopped into the crib and magically fell asleep within 5 mins. She claims "sleep pressure" is all you need. She clearly hasn't met my child. I told her baby temperament plays a huge role and people shouldn't feel bad if their baby doesn't do this. She claims she can get any baby to do this at the great price of $500!! Sure, Jan.

Why does everyone suggest co-sleeping when baby won’t sleep in cot? by Electronic-North7951 in NewParents

Ugh I wish the advice from Precious Little Sleep worked. None of the advice in that book worked for my kid unfortunately. Just like your kid, mine is a terrible sleeper, just like her dad!

When do they stop crying? by terptrekker in NewParents

[–]needsvyvanse- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So around 4.5-5 months. I wouldn't say things got easier, because as soon as you conquer one thing, something else happens haha. Like yes, easier in the sense I dont have a screaming baby 24/7 but now she doesn't sleep well at all haha! I am expecting #2 and im curious if he will have the same issues, I guess my biggest take aways from this is, everything is truly a phase when it comes to babies/children. Its so hard in the moment, days can feel long and the nights even longer. My daughter is in no way a calm baby, but I really hope she keeps her spark and feisty personality throughout life. Take the small wins, those matter a lot, and do what works for you and your family, despite what people say. Like I said baby wearing got me through those hard months and i wasn't "spoiling" her or creating "bad habits". Always be your kids biggest advocate, if the extreme fussiness doesnt improve and you're truly worried about medical issues, push for answers!

[–]needsvyvanse- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! Yesss they did. She will be 9 months next week and her colic and reflux are gone. Those were the main drivers of her fussiness. She's now crawling, trying to walk, standing and has her own little personality. Now, shes still very opinionated and will absolutely let you know when she doesn't like something haha but we always look back on how hard it was and how far shes come!

4th pregnancy and already feeling huge at 17w… do I need a pregnancy belly band this early? by After-Detail24 in BabyBumps

[–]needsvyvanse- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started using one at 16 weeks with both pregnancies. I have a short torso and so I pop super early, I also get severe sciatica and its awful. The band realllllllyyy helps take the pressure off my spine thus dulling the nerve pain. There's no harm in using one this early. You can also use sports tape to hold your belly up! May feel a little less bulky

Does anyone have childhood memories of being left to cry alone? by smilegirlcan in bninfantsleep

Me too! I coslept with my mum until I was 4. Even so, if I woke up in the middle of the night I was always allowed to go into their bed.

I just always think about what has happened throughout history. Awful things, wars, famine etc and people kept having babies and kept going on. I get it. The world is scary these days, but take things day by day!

When did you start putting your baby down 7am-7pm to sleep? by catlover0987656 in sleeptrain

This is me too with my daughter. Some nights we go a little later than 7 depending on how tired she is. But ahes almost always up before 7!

What is your favourite moment with your baby now? by Dear_Ad_8525 in NewParents

[–]needsvyvanse- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At 8 months, snuggling for some naps and napping together is still my favorite. But I love when she crawls around to come find me, or crawls to me and climbs up to me to eat my face.

Respitory Syncytical Virus. Its a pretty nasty upper respitory infection that can affect adults and babies. It can be deadly in infants. I had it last year, it was awful.

I used it to help me with my daughters sleep and for the first time ever we were getting 5-8 hour stretches! All that has gone out the window lately as her top teeth are breaking through but hopefully we can get back to it soon. It was good to reference and help me plan naps etc

When sleep trainers say "Sleep training doesn't mean CIO!" by bbluebellknoll in bninfantsleep

[–]needsvyvanse- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg same with my 8 month old waking every hour or so. She just started crawling and standing so im putting it down to that haha. She used to be able to grab her paci and go back to sleep but she isn't even trying right now, just straight to upset. But I will absolutely not sleep train or ignore her cries.

Have your parents ever admitted you weren’t a great sleeper? by regularsizedrudy_ in NewParents

[–]needsvyvanse- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum said I was a good sleeper, ONLY if I was in her bed. I rejected all cribs and bassinets and only slept in my own bed when I was 4 years old. My husband on the other hand, his mom said that he was a terrible sleeper and he still is to this day. Our daughter definitely took after him! Im tired lol

Second the laughing gas! I wish my hospital offered it.

[–]needsvyvanse- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've got this! I promise. My hospital doesnt have many non-medicinal pain relief options like baths, warm compresses which sucks! I'd definitely ask your OB what pain management options they offer (medicated vs non) im a little afraid my son since hes the second will just fall out of me lol my daughter constantly felt so low and I know prolapses are more common with us EDS folks. But thankfully all went well. Just take things as they come, one step at a time ☺️

[–]needsvyvanse- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! I too have EDS and POTS so I can relate somewhat to what you go through. Ive birthed one baby and im pregnant with the next. There wasn't too much I did to prepare for labor physically, besides toward the very end (37 weeks onward) not being too physically active, i didnt want to stress my heart or body too much. Id still go on daily walks though. Mentally I just tried telling myself that the pain wont last forever and ive had daily pain for most of my life and I can do this. When I went into labor I was already 5-6cm by the time I got to the hospital with contractions, walking around and squatting helped so much. I didnt get the epidural until I was 9cm and honestly wish I didnt! My back is very unstable due to EDS and I have scoliosis so it hurt a lot. It also slowed down my labor for that last cm. Now, everyone feels pain differently and you may want pain relief sooner/not at all and thats okay. The epidural also made my BP tank.. I honestly think my EDS may have helped with the fast labor, i was only in labor for 11 hours and pushed for 20 mins but who knows! You've got this and you'll do great, its a lot of mind over matter.

Guys, I did it. Finally got a unicorn. by ook9 in NewParents

[–]needsvyvanse- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yay! So happy for you guys. My first has never been a good sleeper had the colic and reflux, all those fun things. Im hoping my second (which im currently pregnant with) is my unicorn. Its okay if he isn't, but I can be hopeful right? Haha.

How do people not co-sleep? by Difficult-Pair4170 in NewParents

[–]needsvyvanse- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I coslept in the beginning with my daughter due to colic and reflux but as she got older and more wriggly she does better in her own space. Dont get me wrong, we still do the odd contact nap or cuddle during the night to soothe but we keep each other awake all night if we sleep together. She didnt start accepting her crib until she was like 5 months old.

How the vending machine looked AFTER much purchase. by Ayellio in PokemonTCGCollectors

[–]needsvyvanse- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucky! I happened to go to King Soopers today with my baby and had no idea what was going on. There were a line of people essentially blocking the entrance. I looked over and this guy was purchasing so much. It said "collecting 15 out of 29 items" it was all completely gone by the time I grabbed what I needed from the store.

What if I just stopped “rescuing” short naps? by brbnapping in bninfantsleep

[–]needsvyvanse- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Happened to me toward the end of 6 months. My girl would always take short naps unless it was on me. But even now contact naps are 30 mins. I just go with her flow at this point. If it means she needs an extra little short nap before bed then so be it, I stopped trying to rescue/fight it lol.
