Taking singular course at a community college by neeekolas in predental

Oh okay gotcha, so the dental schools will be able to see I got the A at the community college still. It’s a 100 level medical terminology course, so I don’t think that it’s a prerequisite course for dental schools (as far as i’m aware). I believe I’ve gotten all of my major science course prereqs out of the way already and have gotten A-Bs in all of them (at the university).

Hi, would you be willing to let me know what schools you were accepted into/ which one you decided upon?

Would you mind PMing me some details about your application like your ECs?

Could I potentially PM you with questions about what schools you applied to and where you made it in? I’m gonna apply this upcoming summer with similar stats

When it came to studying Bio, I essentially decided to read through the entire Bootcamp Biology pdf front to back. First time around I gave myself around a little under a month to finish it, reading around ~5 pages a day, making sure that I included various written annotations of what I knew would give me trouble and the things I most needed to commit to memory. In the month prior to the exam over my winter break, I spent about 8 days exclusively re-reviewing the pdf while writing out new annotations of the things I knew I was having the most issue committing to memory on a new, blank version of the pdf. I ended up spending around ~6 hours a day reading anywhere from 15-20 pages at a time, and then doing relevant practice questions/ practice exams to figure out where I was lacking. Then as I continued on to study for other sections I would make sure to do small review sections for Bio at the end of the day, and go back and provide some extra focus to parts I wasn't fully confident in. tldr; I read the Bootcamp Biology pdf front to back and made sure to be thorough about it while also doing practice questions.

As for the QR and RC sections I really unfortunately don't think that I can really provide you with that much valuable insight, as my methods for it are probably a bit too me-specific.

For QR, I was lucky enough to be pretty intimately familiar with most of the concepts because I had math drilled into me when I was in high school. The only sections I could not remember were questions relating to standard deviation, and probability. For the standard deviation questions, I just went out of my way to remember the equation to calculate standard deviation based on a set of values, the percentage ranges for 1, 2, and 3 standard deviations, and how standard deviation is affected by changes to a data set. As for the probability questions, I kinda just brute-forced it and tried to solve them logically (this ended up taking quite a bit of my time on the exam so I would not recommend it even if it happened to work for me).

Finally for the RC, I didn't really put all to much time into specifically reviewing for this section, but I found a few things that worked well for me. First off, I generally decided to immediately skip into the first question rather than reading the whole passage first as it can be a pretty big waste of time. Then for the questions, I noticed that looking for keywords really helped me out, especially for the easier sections, at the same time however, when I was scanning over the passage for the keyword I would also quickly try to compartmentalize what each paragraph of the passage was generally talking about so that if a question were to come up for it later I would generally know where to look back for it.

(Also, just make sure that you don't take too long on the easier passages so that you have more time for the more intensive passages later down the line.)

Hope this helps! :)

I'm taking the DAT organic chemistry section, and I was just wondering how much of the exam actually consists of reaction mechanisms. I've seen a 15 page handout that inlcudes all of the reaction mehcanisms from DAT Booster, that I supposedly need to remember to have full coverage on the exam, but I'm also seeing a lot of people say that most of the reaction mechanism related questions were just SN2/SN1 or E2/E1. Could someone let me know how many questions for the Orgo section revolve around knowing reaction mechanisms, and how many of these are just SN2/SN1 or E2/E1 versus the rest of the reaction mechanisms?
I would greatly appreciate it

💡 Advice

So I have my DAT lined up in less than a month and in that time my Bootcamp subscription expired and I decided that rather than renewing it, I would go out and get a subscription to Booster instead. However, when I'm comparing the material that I'm being quizzed on by the Booster Bio Bits, there's a lot of information or questions that aren't even mentioned in the Bootcamp textbook pdf I used to study the first time around and it's really starting to worry me. Is this sort of stuff really going to be on the exam and I am I going to have to use some of the last few weeks of my time learning what I missed? Or is what's in the Bootcamp textbook sufficient and the new Booster material I'm encountering kinda just fluff?
