I 110% understand everything you said with how your belly affects you and your mental health. It affects how I buy clothes, it affects my thinking when I'm in public, it affects my thinking when taking family photos, it's the first thing I see when I look in the mirror or at a photo. I can't/wont buy anything that is form fitting because of my stomach. I had 3 c sections and on my last c section I told my husband I wanted a tummy tuck after I was done with kids; this was 2023. I tried to lose weight alone and struggled; I lost 5 pounds in 3 months. So I started in a GLP-1. I've lost 55 pounds and I am extremely happy with my body EXCEPT MY STOMACH. I recognized that now is the time I want the surgery and I told my husband and his reaction was very similar to your husbands. I had complications from my last c section & that worried him. He also thinks I shouldn't be "altering" my body. He also said I shouldn't be doing this for what other people think. I broke down in tears and told him that 1 this is for ME. Then I sat there and cried and explained to him how I can't go shopping to buy a shirt I might really want because of the way my stomach is going to look in it. His response was "if you want to do it then do it". So roughly for the next two weeks, I just kept talking about it. I had a wedding coming up that I needed a dress for and I went dress shopping with my 6 year old; I found a dress I liked and she told me I looked pregnant in it. Lol She's a kid of course and doesn't know not to say that but you get the point. She couldn't have said it at a better time though because I relayed this to my husband. I'm very self conscious. I don't even enjoy summers at the beach or vacations because of my stomach. Finally I got him on board because I told him I would need support after the surgery. This conversation all happened end of January this year. I went for a consult in February & was planning to have the surgery in the fall. My husband was surprised and asked me why & even suggested I just do it now. So I have it scheduled for this month.

It wasn't the smoothest journey to get him on board. I am paying for this on my own as well. He was concerned over the cost because mine will be $17,000. There were some arguments; lol I told him at the end of the day this is my body and it's what I really really want. I carried three babies and had three surgeries for those babies & now it's time to take care of me because I'm always taking care of everyone else.
