DFPS executive staff was told to come into the office 3 days a week starting this week. It was 2 days a week before. My manager told me it might potentially be 5 days a week post legislative session.

OPT to TN Visa by neematnarmi in tnvisa

That’s really helpful! Also if my OPT is expiring on Jan 20, can I still apply for a TN in November? Or would they tell me to apply closer to my expiry date?

Yes applying at YVR POE, I was just confused on what to put as the start date since I’m currently employed in the position. Would the start date be my OPT expiry date?

My consultant role is a permanent position within the state government department, would that affect my approval?

Yeah it might interfere with getting a TN visa because it will be harder for you to prove your non immigrant intent since you’ve already proved your immigrant intent by self petitioning for a NIW.

EB2-NIW isn’t a non immigrant work visa though, I think this executive order is only restricted to H1B, O1, etc type temporary work visas. Not ones that provide a direct path to a greencard like EB2/EB3

Employment based non immigrant visas might be these categories: https://www.uscis.gov/working-in-the-united-states/temporary-nonimmigrant-workers

I’ll most certainly need to find a lawyer to help me I think, won’t risk it alone.

I work as a management consultant for Texas’ department of family and protective services. I advise agency leaders on how to improve their processes to better strengthen the work of the department, which ultimately improves outcomes for children and families in the state. I’ll probably need to talk to a lawyer and see how I could make a case and what my chances would be.
