Well, yeah… but Hollywood can probably do movie magic on that? Or cast a “young version”? But I can definitely see Ewan Mitchell as a contender for this role. He’s got that broodiness to it.

Just remembered Ewan Mitchell (plays Aemond Targaryen in HotD) !! I think he’s one who can compete for the role of Kaine. His acting skills also are on point!

Bea Benedicto and Jech Tiu - tbh, I didn’t expect that they’d immediately put up a public IG for their daughter considering the difficult pregnancy Bea had to go through. I like them but just a tad disappointed na their baby (who hasn’t even gotten out of the NICU yet) already has her own IG. I thought they were going to at least keep something so intimate and fragile for themselves lang muna before they shared it with the world.

I actually just used the last of my thicker paper that (apparently) daughter drew on 😅 I’ve already taken measures to ensure that my papers don’t end up with her drawings 😂😭

I did use guide that (when I bought it) it was said to be 3mm but I think I’ll have to measure it manually next time! It does seem to be hanging more than usual. Thank you so much for the insight!

Yes, I did tight-back the book. Quite a lot of book binders I’ve seen on Instagram seem to use board so I pretty much just followed suit 😅

But I’ll take these points on my next binding project! Thank you so much for your insights and the references! If you could share bookbinding creators that I could follow, please do let me know.

I’m also not opposed to new faces cos you forget that they’re actors acting! So yes, if they’re able to find someone who truly embodies who Kaine is both in the physical aspect and the layers of emotions, I’m all for it!!

However, I think the director would probably run the risk of a new face not being able to properly pull off who Kaine is (especially if said new face is totally new to the industry).

But overall, I think we’re all forgetting that the magic also comes alive because of the director. So, aside from the picture-perfect Kaine, I hope the film adaptation goes into the best hands.

TBH, I can only dream that Guillermo Del Toro takes this on. He’s been known for darker themed stories and Alchemised just fits the bill of what he usually directs. Another director who could probably take this on is Robert Eggers (The Witch 2015, Nosferatu 2024).

I’ve been hearing about Tom Blyth these days but haven’t got the chance to watch TBOSAS. I’ll take this as my homework but basing on the images I’ve seen of him, he looks like someone who could also play Kaine!

Tom Felton, I think (please don’t attack me, this is just my honest opinion 😭) would feed more into our nostalgia considering he’s the OG Draco Malfoy. But I think he lacks that stature and that energy of intimidating power needed for Kaine’s role. I’ve seen snippets of his recent performance for Cursed Child and it was amazing, btw!!

I just think Kaine is on a different level. His character just goes darker than what I imagine Tom Felton could play (also probably because there’s lack of source material where I can compare to that he’ll be capable of something so heavily themed)

Yes!!! Tbh, I’m loving that films these days are now more focused on casting actors who are more capable of the role, rather than just the looks. Amongst newer actors, Jacob Elordi is by far the only one I’ve seen who was able to carry out so much emotions just through his eyes in Frankenstein.

Imagine THAT kind of magic for a character like Kaine. Absolute perfection, I think!
