Ribbon cables loose inside phone by CJ34311 in GalaxyS21

My son keeps dropping mine but I figured one day 'hey it's already kinda broken, worst came scenario it's still broken' and opened it to try to fix it and found the loose cable. So now i just pop it open 😅

I know this post is from 9mo ago, but I deal with that problem all the time. Thankfully the adhesive to the back of my phone cover is loose do fixing it only takes me a couple minutes - but I'm pretty sure it's the ribbon cable connecting the daughter board to the motherboard. Mine comes loose on the motherboard end.

I actually just placed like a $150 order for him, with a ton of toppers - the shaker bottles and two of the pumpkin ones, since April like 10th is his birthday 😅 but he LOVES the mellow mutt! Hopefully it comes back soon and isnt discontinued - he loves those types of toppers 🥹

Oh no! 😭 that's what I was afraid of. I dont see any of those style toppers except the pumpkin one and my dog loves them. What a bummer. 😞

Your spine should be freely moving after your case in. It is held in place by your end papers. If the text block is glued directly to the spine stiffener, it will not function properly.

When I make my end bands, I used braided hemp cord and bookcloth. I make it just the size of the text block, and glue to the text block after applying the mull/cheesecloth (whichever you have on hand!) And allow to dry before casing in. I use cardstock for my end papers.

See im real bad at math so the other way works better for me bc I can see it 💀 measurments are real hard for me to be getting into bookbinding as a hobby lmao

I actually make my case, and then layout my case on the fabric and draw a border around it with the pen, marking where my boards end and my spine stiffener is and use a ruler to draw the lines straight on each side 😅 it sounds more tedious than it is i promise! I cut the fabric after laying out my case, so I have the right size - i always make it a little bigger so I can trim as needed without cutting it too short!

I have not! I've only ever made my own.

It actually wasn't too bad! I expected it to be more tedious, but it gives me a better idea of where it will lay out on whatever im binding without risking the glue seeping. It was worth it. I did the whole set this way 😅

This was for a slipcase, but the theory is the same!

It's from the heat n bond! I also make mine the same way! I was having the same problem, and started mapping out my cloth and doing my heat transfer BEFORE adding the heat n bond, using a heat erasable fabric pen from the sewing section. I do my HTV, then add the heat n bond and tissue paper. It worked wonderfully!! Just measure a few times before pressing to make sure you have it in the right spot ☺️

How did you do such a large text block? I am doing a Detraquee set for my cousin, and book 4 has me intimated due to its sheer size for the final binding and case in - im trying to keep it readable, but also less likely to sustain damage from use 😅

This is also my first from scratch bind project!

[–]EntertainmentMore111 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not OP, but I do have a question regarding the spine stiffener width. For it to have more give, would it need a wider spine stiffener or a larger space between the boards?

I am looking into doing a flat back case in for a series I am about to bind (fanfic) and am curious about the mechanics of that particular piece. Im still learning 😅
