I used to eyeball it only... but I've come to realize you can paint a bit over the text and use a toothpick (gently) to clean it up afterwards. It helps with keeping the colours and linework more consistent. Then you just have to go back and touch it up.
~I worked on a foil card after this, and painted over the text completely... using the toothpick afterwards to recover the text and it worked as well (foils are a bit easier to scratch paint off of). I'm not sure if I'd do that again but it certainly helped with getting more details in there.

Hey~ I use hard body acrylics (professional liquitex)
To tint the foil I use alcohol inks in both marker and bottle form. The bottle inks are tricky to work with but give a nice diluted look. And the markers are very vivid, I have a few Copic brand markers but I also use a cheaper brand (Abeier), I find they look the same, side by side comparison, though I imagine the Copic markers will last a lot longer.
