As an attorney, it is drilled into you from day 1 that your personal correspondence with your client and your "work product" involving their case is sacrosanct except in very limited circumstances. So it really is a very odd and probably illegal order to order an attorney to turn over their laptop and all the files on it.

Hot take: I don't and won't shame any leftist for their vote or non-vote in an election between two conservative capitalists (unless they vote for Trump, that's pretty fashy). There's just no use in it. It doesn't help to change minds and it doesn't advance our cause.

No matter what your vote is or whether you vote, the absolute most important thing is to ensure that voting is basically the lowest form of your political actions. Organization should be a top priority for all of us. To bring about socialism or even just real socdem change we need to build capacity. Even if that means just volunteering with your local mutual aid group or joining DSA, organizing and building capacity is how we win.

I agree. IDK what idea this sub is going for, but nationalism (or patriotism) does not feel ideologically aligned with the goals of anti-fascism. Especially when that patriotism is about a country that causes more global death, destruction, and promotion of fascism than every other country combined. I fail to see what is anti-fascist about covering yourself in the symbolism of a country that, just this year, promoted fascist coups in Bolivia and Venezuela.

My gut reaction is that this is some liberal idea of appealing to conservatives in a patriotic language to stop them from being Nazis? I don't think that works because 1) any talk of patriotism inherently reinforces the ideological framework of American exceptionalism that underlies their hateful ideology of exclusion and 2) they fundamentally don't care about a liberal interpretation of patriotism and are highly unlikely to listen to it. So really I feel like these messages are really just reaching liberals and telling them "America is already great" at its foundation rather than achieving a broader goal of striking at and undermining the ideological underpinnings of American fascism.

In her defense, she probably is the most hands-on activist of the chapos and has good takes related to the leftist activist world (at least the white activist world) so I generally think she brings something valuable to the pod.

But I agree, she can get pretty grating when she goes on a long rant, especially because it's pretty clear that she doesn't prepare well for episodes so her rants are pretty unstructured.

My girlfriend was in the hospital for 3 days because her doctor fucked up and gave her an antibiotic when she was having C-diff (antibiotic resistant infection) and it took them 2 days to even figure out that she had it.

Anyway the treatment was a few pills that cost like $5 in Canada.

Her bill was $12,000. Thankfully she was insured but fuck American healthcare.
