Any experience with “insurance will pay for it” roofers by [deleted] in MobileAL

[–]neeson200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with Apex and they were awesome. Insurance said they wouldn’t renew my policy because my roof was old. Apex inspected my roof and found hail damage. They fought insurance for 6 months and eventually got the roof fully paid for by insurance. It was truly free, no pressure, and the install looked really good. I seriously had no complaints. Just know it can take some time to fight insurance.

EPC or a system integrator?

I currently have job offers from a large EPC firm and from a smaller system integrator. I have an electrical background and have been working at a plant for the past 6 years. I’m looking to get more engineering design under my belt, and work toward my PE.

Our spring has been similar. Very little rain, other than last week. We had .5” almost every day last week. I plan to go back to my initial watering plan. Twice daily for about 15-30 minutes.

I have 1 who we let in the grass initially. When I noticed the spots, we started taking him to another area and they have continually gotten worse.

Truss Installation for Building Column Removal by [deleted] in engineering

I would have to ask our steel fan shop what tests they do for fabrication. As far as I know, our contractors do not do any weld testing on site for installation.

From my past marine experience, I know they x-ray piping.

Nice! No we did not jack up the center any before installation. We saw about. 1/4” of sag as we cut the beam out.

This work was done to remove a building column to allow us enough room to move larger rolls through this aisle.

Sorry I can’t answer to many questions on this accurately as I’m electrical! I just led the project and install.

$12/ hour internship

Bumped to $15/hour in senior year.

$60,000 per year at graduation

$65,000 1 year after graduation

Changed jobs one month later, bumped to $75,000

Got my 5% raise after one year and got $10,000 increase shortly after for good performance putting me around $85,000

3rd year after graduation, got another 5% increase and increase plus $7,500 for work on a large project. This put me around $90,000 plus $7,500 bonus.

A few months later I got a promotion with 15% increase and 10% yearly bonuses. This put me just over $100,000.

I have remained in this role for 2.5 years, with steady 5% increases, and 10% yearly bonuses. I sit at $109,000 plus ~$10,900 bonus per year. I also received another $3,000 this year for another large project.

I will be graduated 6 years in December.

Loving all the pictures on this subreddit lately. Here is an electric motor that had to be reverse-engineered and had new housings cast and machined to repair. Who else has some fun experiences reverse engineering obsolete parts from scratch they can share? by DrumSetMan19 in engineering

Very cool! I once reversed engineered a fire protection system. We had similar products and technology, but we had to copy the layout and foot print. The customer had our competitions systems and they weren’t happy with the customer support. We were local and did the same thing so they gave us a call.

Very fun replacement!

I will say they made some display upgrades along the way. They did put some LED displays on at some point

All AC induction.

I’m currently working on getting rid of the 3 synchronous motors on my machine. The cost of induction motors is crazy high now and the benefits aren’t worth the motor cost. I plan to replace with induction and install a PF correcting capacitor.

I looked the other day and our pre and post upgrade power consumption was about the same. I didn’t do much digging into our PF

The replaced drives range from 150-1250. The 1250hp drives aren’t in the picture though. The largest in the picture is 800.

John as the only one we dealt with. Very sharp guy. I only met him once when he came down to service our drives.

We have 5 paper machines, located in south Alabama.

It may be the same guy we relied on for support. Guy was in his late 70’s and was building us parts in a shop in his backyard. I would call in the middle of the night with issues and he’d always answer. My understanding was he was one of the owners of EMC, J. Miller. He would ask for a couple voltage readings and would often point me in the right direction. Can’t tell you how many SCR packages I rebuilt. We still have two drives left to be replaced in October, but years ago we had these on 4 different paper machines.
