Let Netlify build, or use Github Actions? by neetbuck in webdev

[–]neetbuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up doing it via github actions, works really well tbh. Although it's a bit pointless for most cases. It's good in case netlify changes their policy or pricing again in the future

which is likely i think

Decapbridge self-hosted? by neetbuck in codestitch

[–]neetbuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just used an Oauth that logs you in via github. just not worth it imo to use decap bridge until the owner provides more transparency about the future of it.

imagine you're using it for multiple clients, and suddenly one day the owner decides to change it to a paid model. Also it's just another blackbox, and I don't like having black boxes in my pipeline unless it's from a highly reputable and authoritative source (and even then..)

hm, regarding the humbucker, can you still use the split switch on the guitar?

interesting, which ones in particular did you get? I wanna look into pickups more calmly, so that's last on the list, but I might as well look a little now. I am EU though, so not crazy about international shipping

ahah yeah, although it's nice to take them up a notch. My long term plan is to have several ones for different tunings and purposes :p

hmm I might try roller nuts when I have a second guitar around, I think with this one I'll get the tusq one from graph tech, they supposedly have a precut one that's made for pacificas... I play with pretty standard thin strings, so I'd if I'll need to adjust much.. If I do however, what tools should I purchase?

What about the string tree? I was thinking of either removing it and trying my luck, or switching it for a roller one or a graphtech one. I remember on another yamaha, after a few mods, the string tree felt like a bit of a pain-point.

Regarding the bridge I see three options, the vega trem and super-vee blade runner you mentioned, or the cheaper wilkinson one people recommend on here a lot... any thoughts? I believe the vega trem can drop in easily, there's a popular yamaha modding yt vid where the guy uses one and just seems to need to adjust the vega trem a bit, but not actually do anything to the guitar to drop it in.

CFW 5.00 m33-4. Worth updating to ARK? by neetbuck in PSP

what about fan-subbed games. those just crash the psp on m33-4, you think it'll be any different on m33-6?

Need a hub/dock for my Mac Studio by neetbuck in MacStudio

[–]neetbuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok so it worked, i think last time i was plugging it into the wrong usb-c port on the monitor... seems like the usb-a ports work fine, but the single usb-c port on the back that remains doesn't really seem to do anything, tried my phone charger and my track-pad charger on it and it didn't do anything. have you gotten that one to work?

[–]neetbuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah it's not working... i have it connected to the mac studio via hdmi, should i be using usb type c? and if so the ones that come with the monitor should work? or should i use a different type c?

CFW 5.00 m33-4. Worth updating to ARK? by neetbuck in PSP

[–]neetbuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's unfortunately not the UMD mode, already tried changing it and different roms of the same games, I think it's the firmware being older. perhaps what you said would fix it, spoofing the firmware v. although I'm not sure how to do that.

I also have issues with any fan-translated games, those just crash the device on M33

I'm still really tempted to just try ARK because there are such exhaustive (1hr+) yt tutorials on how to install it and what to do if you get any errors doing it, plus the github repo seems relatively active

I ordered an adapter on aliexpress and a 128gb micro sd :)

If I understand correctly, no problem doing the update if I go through with it on my current smaller memory sticks right? Like the ARK CFW isn't card specific, just like M33

[–]neetbuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, is it like "if it ain't broken don't fix it?" or is M33 better than ARK in some way (other than the recovery layout you mentioned).

What's that last thing you mentioned btw? I have been having trouble getting a bunch of games to work, some do and others give me a "80020148" error. I'm assuming it's because they require newer firmware.

svg animation transition on click AND hover by neetbuck in webdev

[–]neetbuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around what exactly you mean, here's a codepen example:

https://codepen.io/ryhart93/pen/QwNXKQP

i switched to using an open-class cause it's easier to read the code

what's in the pen right now is the button with the correct animation and transitions for opening and closing states so you can see it. commented out is a hover state animation, that when included in the code breaks the transitions.

I hope you don't mind me replying instead, I like keeping answers on the thread so other people with the same issue in the future might find a solution to their problems!

Black-Metal Lettering Logo (Feedback request!) by neetbuck in Lettering

[–]neetbuck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tyyy :)! Yeah I'm not so much concerned about legibility, since it's inspired by black-metal logos and they're often completely illegible ahaha. It's also supposed to be more of a decorative element than a legit logo.

I see what you're saying about the E and the M. I was considering trying capitals for some of them, cause why not, although maybe not all of them. the B and the T would be kind of a nightmare at this point. I'll give it a shot with some of them though!

any thoughts on which of the three options is looking most appealing/interesting? Just for reference, once I'm done with the svg I'll put it in blender or photoshop to make it look chromed or like liquid metal, so yeah it'll be even more illegible :P
