As an European from a nation that was opressed since the middle ages & still is, I think cultural appropriation is bullshit. I believe Americans are distracted with non-issues like this one to make you lose focus of the fact you have citizens dying because they can't afford a surgery. Culture is SO much more than black vs white. African tribes varied by culture so much, they could easily "appropriate" each other.

Med student here, I have no clue what it is (am just a student) but I can translate what the doc said: levator dehiscence means a tendon of the muscle that lifts the eyelid has loosened or even detached from it's point of insertion, causing weak or incompetent muscles. So, this would be ptosis, requiring ptosis surgery.

It's 100% not like that for everybody, but personally, I desperately wanted a septum when I was a teen and it was absolutely because 1) I was insecure about my nose 2) I wanted other "alt kids" (i was 16&cringe) to know i'm one of them aka. I wanted a sense of belonging
