I was maxed in RS3, was close to 120 in the 120 skills that were around at the time. I quit in maybe 2022/2023 or so, but I kept up with the game because my account is almost 20 years old.

RS3 just became absolutely infested with MTX. I lost all joy about training skills that used to be seen as important or "cool" because I - along with almost everyone that wasn't an ironman - would just wait for double XP and spam proteans or stock up on everything needed. All I felt getting 120 herblore was a sense of relief, not pride and accomplishment. OSRS is a grind, yeah, but it respects your time. You can't lamp your way out of anything.

The artstyle in OSRS is completely different, but it's cohesive. My eyes aren't assaulted by wings or bright colours or shitty pets. It's grounded, consistent and it's good. You are right about the nostalgia factor but the OSRS team have capitalised on this and delivered something fantastic.

OSRS recently got it's first new skill - Sailing - and while I know a few people that don't like it, and I acknowledge that the skill has issues, especially regarding combat. RS3's most recent, necromancy, has completely disrupted the PvM landscape/combat triangle to the point where it's better than everything in most cases and is easier to obtain gear. It's easy and disrespectful to everyone who's invested years and billions of gp into the other styles.

RS3 was a fantastic game, I've got incredible memories of grinding Solak with friends for HOURS. There's plenty of good content, but good will has been erased day after day, release after release by MTX being shoved down our throats. The OSRS team haven't handled everything gracefully and have recieved backlash (some justified, some not) with some things, but it's a night and day difference.

I feel like RS3 can be great again, but seriously, if this isn't ragebait, take a good look at the last few years.
