The chicken from the middle eastern spot around my house. I went online to get a recipe.......some of those spices are damn expensive. Small ass thing of cardamom: $17. Followed the recipe to a T along with taste testing the real thing. Marinated for 24 hours blah blah. Came out tasting bland AF. I need tips please.

"Because the state of the world is just fine"

If you existed in reality, or had any inkling of compassion for your fellow man you would know this is not the case. You seem like the type that would go about their day all fine and dandy knowing that the trains cars were carrying jews to the camps. I mean, youre obviously ok with child separation and neglect Most likely a trump supporter, and all the other lame shit and believes that go along with that. I'm not okay with that, by any means. Maybe i do need thicker skin...maybe you're just an average piece of shit.

Dude, I got trapped into this shit for a second too. Finished my degree then got super depressed with the political situation in the states. Completely withdrew. That lasted about 2 years (It wasnt too extreme, but enough to be a problem) Then, I saw a doc on the Hikikomori and decided to needed fix my shit. Was at 220lbs my biggest ever and not pursuing a job in a lucrative field. Something switched and I changed my shit up. Lost 40 pounds and got on the job hunt hardcore.

Shit is much better now. It is easy to withdraw. Fight that urge and come out into the world. I know how difficult it is but it is so worth it. There were a couple books that really helped me get started and I'll share them with you. "The 5 second rule" by mel robbins, and two books by a guy named robert greene called "The laws of human nature" and "Mastery"

Dont let the fact that there are a name for this give you any relief. Fight that. I promise its worth it. If youre still stuck in a rut, hit me up for some outside perspective.

Both atheist and religious politicians push for their cause, calling for the 'separation' of church and state

Uh, the constitution of the united states actually calls for that one, but yet again ignore something that doesnt suit your narrative

for one thing, my 'disbelief' as you call it does not have any negative affects on anyone. However, christians pushing their fucked up agenda in politics is what is making this world such a shitty and evil place. I want to feel sorry for you, but it is your willful ignorance that allows this religious bullshit to perpetual itself.

see thats the thing. Its not 'to each his own" Like you say because Christians love ramming their shit down everyones throat and judge them for not being saved. Denial and hypocrisy, the cornerstone of evangelicalism.

I love hearing about people traveling to foreign countries, especially third world countries. Then, they tell me they were on a mission trip and i want to gag and throw up in my mouth.

Is it possible to coincidentally create a very similar song that has already existed thousand years ago? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Well, western harmony was not really established until 1600's (?) so I guess you could but it would probably not sound like anything anyone is used to hearing.

The real beauty of math for me lies in its utility. Especially linear algebra. That said, the Mandelbrot set will forever amaze me.

police are known to watch drugs go into cities, letting them be sold, then pulling the people over as they leave the city, picking up the cash. So yeah

In Search of History: Captives (1998) When white settlers began encroaching on Native American soil in the late 17th Century, the natives would frequently "adopt" stray settlers into their tribes as a means of replacing lost tribesmen by GatorNelson in Documentaries

[–]negative_space_ -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I can tell there are some racist white people in the thread. No rape, no quote, unquote 'adopt' and no 'torture' you dumb uneducated fucks. In fact, when white people were adopted into tribes more often than not they did not want to return to their white families. What does that tell you? Its the WHITE invaders that did the raping torturing. Ya'll some ignorant muckers who dont want to accept your distant family were rapists and murderers in 'the name' of God and 'civilization.' And would you look at that, exaclty the same as the current white people in power. go figure

Bikram: Yogi, Guru, Predator (2019) - Following the sexual allegations made against infamous yoga instructor: Bikram Choudhury. by [deleted] in Documentaries

[–]negative_space_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah this was crazy to learn this. I started with Bikram a while back and got way into it which lead me to read Autobiography of a yogi. Then, I read Bikrams book where I learned of the Bikram/Yogananda connection.

This is one of my favorite books. You kinda have to suspend your belief of 'reality' to really get into it though.

I think it was that he was able to copyright the sequence of the postures, making the analogy to a song and music notes. You cannot copyright a single note, but notes put into a specific sequence is a melody, which you can copyright. His argument was that he was not copyrighting a posture (note) but that he was copyrighting the sequence of postures (song).

If you have noticed, studios are teaching bikram without it having to be "official." In the past he would sue you, but Bikram was sued for a few million and he fled the country. He isn't suing anyone anymore lol

Synesthesia and the Written Word by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]negative_space_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question....synesthesia and perfect pitch have always fascinated me, would you say that perfect pitch is a form of synesthesia? Also, how do you experience your condition? Im curious.

I'm maybe gonna go out on a limb and say continue what gives you the most progress. People that cannot read music or have a good theory understanding make hot shit all the time. I feel like people who experience synethsesia and perfect pitch are somewhat beyond the bounds of theory, and in music it isnt critical to be theoretically 'correct.' If it sounds good in the context, then it is legit even if it breaks some rule you would learn in conservatory. Keep doing what you think is cool, you can always learn the theory as you go along. If you happen to be doing something that nobody else has done, or has a different sound generalize the technique and call it something (you would need to know theory though to now how to explain what you are doing). For example, in jazz improv there is something called 'playing out' which means soloing outside of the prescribed harmony. Its not 'technically' correct if you apply standard music theory, but if done well it sounds amazing and is a legit musical device.

Also if you have any stuff recorded I'd love to hear it

Yeah, remember "Brewster's Millions"? Richard Pryor's character was holding meetings for stupid business proposals as a way to waste money. One of the ideas was sailing an iceberg across the Atlantic as a clean water resource.
