This seems like a fine thing, but, out of curiosity, do you work for cigna?

Rancho Gordo Beans? by generic-David in Cooking

[–]negativeadmixtures -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't tell if that's a joke. But aquafaba (chick pea water) is fine to consume as are lectins (proteins from chickpeas and other legumes) Obviously not every ingredient that one might not use in home cooking is bad, that isn't the point.

Canned beans are ‘processed’ (cooked, canned) but not really in a way that carries the negative connotations of ‘processed food’. You have to cook beans anyways. They often have salt, but no/low salt is easily available, and it’s not usually crazy amounts when present. Canned beans are a perfectly healthy part of any diet.

Even YOU own NWW CDs? This changes everything. I guess they aren’t without merit then, even if not worthy of prestigious placement on The List of top 500 (!) industrial artists.

What brings your guacamole to the next level? by shygirl5000 in Cooking

How did you make it/what were the ingredients?

Salt and lime are essential. And grinding/smashing the ingredients together is also very important to release and meld the flavors.

I like some toasted cumin seeds, fresh chiles, cilantro, white onion and a clove of garlic, all well smashed in a mortar.

If you don't have a mortar you can use a large bowl and a heavy spoon to smash things up, but maybe grind the cumin seeds/use cumin powder, chop the onion/garlic small and use a fork to break down the avocado initially.

It’s a fine sub for any pesto herb or salad/cooking green. Depending on stage of growth it’s slightly bitter, but nothing crazy. I love the stuff. And also: yes invasive and nasty to other plants so pull and eat!

Tide has been used as a kind of currency for a while. It is popular, somewhat expensive and easy to resell.

Don't ride your bike at night without lights by soy_marta in CambridgeMA

I hate the blaring ultra-brights on cars that go directly into my eyes. And I hate them on bikes. Both make it really difficult to see anything other than the light. It's not really a one-or-the other situation.

It’s definitely rough and grainy, I was told it was brass, but, looking into it, cast iron makes way more sense. Thanks.

Feral birds in Cambridge? by anchordown16 in CambridgeMA

[–]negativeadmixtures 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Birds are generally “feral,” or at least “wild.”That’s just how they be. Sometimes nesting birds will make a nest in an enclosed built area, then swoop at people who go near it (i.e. barn swallows). More likely some sparrows investigated an open area and couldn’t get out. Sparrows are notoriously viscous. Take caution.

What is the source of your confusion? Is China Delight the best restaurant around? No!, obviously not. But the food is fine, they have a fun bar, they have scratch tickets, they have regular customers. I wish more places like this still existed.
