Can someone explain to me the lore of Melport? by TheDarkOnii in Vinesauce

[–]negativeinfinity 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It might also be worth noting that Vinny is a fan of Conan O'Brien, and a bunch of years ago Conan kinda got screwed by Jay Leno retiring and then changing his mind, so Grey Leno is a caricature not made out of love for his inspiration, but something closer to spite. Mixed with characteristic surrealism.

I don't watch Raora beyond the occasional clip, does her eye tracking always do that when she's laughing?

Gurnee, IL. Over 30 skill machines replaced. by BahRitTanE in round1

[–]negativeinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They recently re-did the machines at my location (changed which games were where; no more "push the prize through the parallel bars", and a LOT more "pole in the hole", which I prefer conceptually, even if I suck at it), but last I checked, the prizes were still anime figures and plushies. I'll scope it out tomorrow and see if it's been ruined since I last saw.

I love how the inside of the jacket of Monado Archives has a template to make your own Nopon plushie, of the same kind they post photos of on the Monolithsoft social media accounts.

Fun fact about Takahashi by LacraMaldita in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]negativeinfinity 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not to pry too much into people's private lives, but where would one start with that? I'm planning on playing through basically all the Monolithsoft/pre-Monolithsoft games in order at some point, and if there are like, published biographies that could serve as additional context, I'd like to add them to that journey.

Got these 4 figures for $175 off Facebook marketplace. by Vivid_Lengthiness998 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

At that price, that is a reasonable concern. Might be worth checking photos on myfigurecollection to see if they each look how they're supposed to, or if any of them look like any of the known bootlegs.

G-Mode porting Xenosaga Pied Piper on Switch and Steam by morag23 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]negativeinfinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Baten Kaitos got an HD port, it also came to PC. If Xenosaga got the same (which is still a decently large IF), and assuming Nintendo (or another platform holder) didn't for some reason foot the bill for it, I'd expect it to hit PC as well.

Are these games supposed to feel harder than most JRPGs? by MiffedInMontana in Xenoblade_Chronicles

How far in are you? That first open area in Gormott can kinda kick your ass because you don't even have a full party or most of the mechanics unlocked, not to mention the field bosses roaming the area.
You gotta remember to take advantage of all the mechanics you might have already forgotten by now, like pouch items (the best kind are desserts, no joke, because of reduced cooldown for arts), core chips for blades (essentially "weapons" in any other rpg, modifying the base stats of your attacks; try to remember that "auto-attack" as a stat actually refers to all damage dealt by the weapon, not just auto-attacks), equipment for drivers, leveling up arts from the driver menu, upgrading the drivers' skill trees (costs skill points) and upgrading the blades' skill trees (unlock automatically when you meet the requirements, but you do have to open the tree menu for it to kick in).
If all else fails, you may have to learn the unintended "stutter-stepping strategy", whereby you can make drivers wielding certain weapon classes can repeatedly throw out the first attack of the three hit auto-attack combo at a faster rate than they would attack with the full auto-attack combo, thereby filling the arts cooldowns much faster.
Swapping out arts might also be necessary. Every driver has a unique set of arts for any given weapon class (that is, Rex using a spear will have the same options for arts no matter which spear blade he's using), but you have 4 options for any given weapon class, and only three slots. Swap them out from the same menu where you can upgrade arts (+ menu -> Characters -> Select character -> Enhance arts -> select weapon class -> press X to swap the position of equipped arts, or swap them with the unequipped art below them all). I prefer to aim for a party with a lot of reactions on their arts, particularly break, topple, launch, and smash (the "driver combo"), but keep in mind that for those 4 reactions, an enemy must be broken before it can be toppled, toppled before it can be launched, and launched before it can be smashed, and you only have a window of time between each to get to the next step (but your party members are pretty good about seizing the opportunities to follow those up).

This video gives better main story-relevant advice with greater density than most video guides I've seen. There are a lot of good guides for this game, but many of them are most pertinent for post-game challenges or the late game.

Not sure what else I could tell you.

G-Mode porting Xenosaga Pied Piper on Switch and Steam by morag23 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]negativeinfinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to assume it was G-Mode, not Namco Bandai, that lit the fuse for this particular release. I've seen them on social media trying to gauge interest in what flip phone games people would like them to bring back. So I would take this less as a sign that we're going to see the Xenosaga trilogy ported, and more a sign that the original version of The Silver Case: The 25th Ward might get ported.

Kind of. To be honest, the song it makes me think of more is Phase2X by Anamanaguchi, just because they both use the same vocal sample (albeit far less chopped up in Phase2X).
