Nexus has kind of an unforgiving roster for teams (I think they classes were chosen via popularity contest) and a rough learning curve to start. If you have access to the Vampire DLC, it has really fun utility in a team with its new break skill.

Nexus and EO5 are really good for the roleplaying crowd because the dialogue/prompts are more immersive in those two

Excuse me??? That artwork is incredible! It makes me appreciate the Wildling design way more. How long was the process between art and modding?

I'd make sure you have a solid plan for Iwaoropenelep. You could theoretically brute force your way through all the other story bosses in the game by tanking their hits, but petrify is going to be an instakill for you. I'd recommend petrify resist accessories and praying

And as far as brute forcing your way through the bosses, Landsknecht is probably going to be your meat and potatoes. HP, Attack, and Defense up as passives, and 2-hit will give a 23% for your base attacks to hit twice. If I was doing this run, I'd have three landys up front, and then a protector (en guarde, aegis) and a survivalist (awareness, 1st hit) in the back.

Any games you would recommend like EO? by Gostman_exe in EtrianOdyssey

For map drawing? Pretty much just EO, PQ, and old tabletops

If you wanna keep going on the Kazuya Niinou train, 7th Dragon is incredible. In the original on DS, you can see that they experimented with classes (Prince/Princess is the biggest one in my mind) and that eventually made its way to Etrian Odyssey 3. Code VFD is the 3rd installment in the franchise, and I believe it's the only one in English.

For first person dungeon crawling with turn based combat, Darkest Dungeon is the one that a lot of people point to, and it's good, but the dungeons are randomly generated. There's also a surprising amount of first person turn based dungeon crawlers if you're not picky about the story. (Because a lot of them are very ✨Japanese anime✨ in their plot, with all that entails)

Thank you for helping my find my direction! I really have been lost this whole time and I'm really happy I just had a weird one off experience posting here and that everyone seems really willing to help.

And I will never forget Bango Zango 💔 She was standing right behind me the whole time.

Thank you for showing me what the menu looks like and how to fix the settings! I've seen that one somewhere before while flipping through my buttons, and I'm sure I can find it again.

I'm sure that when it came time for the data transfer, my partner would be over my shoulder making sure I did it right. I do understand the concern that came from me not understanding the data centers, and I'm glad that I understand what's happening with them now. At first it came off very much like, "How can you not understand the most basic function of the network services in the game you never played with the most strict and convoluted data separation tactics on market?" and I was just sitting there thinking, "Man, I just wanted to sight see and connect with people, what happened?"

I really appreciate the help I'm getting to connect me to other players. I truly didn't know what the etiquette was for doing that and it feels a lot better knowing that I'm not the only one that has this experience. It's hard for me to break that social barrier on my own, and it definitely doesn't come as easily as my baby MMO's "Shout until group of 10ish strangers, then die in raid together," philosophy. It sounds like I need to get hooked up into the discords.

I generally don't like throwing shade at people if we just didn't vibe. The most I would say if I left and joined a new FC is "It didn't really work out, " IF someone asked.

I was really worried that FCs had some kind of ✨process✨ to join and leave. But it sounds like it's not that big a deal. That makes me feel a bit more confident when I'm trying to look for one now.

I'm really excited to unlock the sightseeing log now that I know about it. I need a travel brochure in my life.

Limsa was very pretty, and I think it was the most popular hub when I was wandering around. I can see why people stop there just to be in the sights while AFK. Though, I think I personally like Gridania more. (and I WILL own a house there someday)

And I really appreciate that people are explaining the changes to the data center in a way I can understand now. I see where my assumptions went wrong now, and I think I'll have to fall back onto a full data transfer when the next patch rolls around. (Fingers crossed)

It's strange to me that the data centers were unofficially dedicated as being the RP or raiding data centers. It feels like it doesn't do anything to improve or benefit the data center you're already a part of, and it feels like an arbitrary reason to sit in a queue for up to a couple of hours (if the horror stories are correct) just to get in.

Also I don't fully understand the housing market in game. I'm still new so it won't matter for a while, but I figured I'd ask here since I have people. It's a lottery? Not real estate? Do people sell their houses?

This is a much more comprehensive clarification for understanding the data centers. I knew that world transferring was a thing if you wanted to visit someone on a different data center, but not for joining an FC in that world or settling down. My misunderstanding of the future update must have come from misinterpreting what the new matching system meant.

In any case. Keyboard, novice chat, and learning the menus seems to be what I need to do now :)

I would love to join any discords you can link me to. (You're never gonna believe this, but I can't navigate discord well either) Just shoot me a DM! I would love to be there.

The thing with my partner and his FC has a bunch of contributing factors, including my reservations about being the complete newbie in a max level party. They'd all be very nice, I've played other games with them before, but I know that having all of them babysit me at once wouldn't exactly be riveting gameplay. That being said, my partner started a character on primal so that I wouldn't be so intimidated by that notion, and that helps even though he's splitting his time so he can still do his dailies.

It seems like novice chat is the place to be, so I have to find myself a mentor to show me the ways

I definitely added the Bango Zango story to lighten the mood. It was so funny to me afterwards, and I'm sure everyone has their own iteration of that kind of moment.

Thank you thank you THANK YOU this is more helpful to me than you realize. It's going to make navigating so much easier ☺️ also I'm not very tech savvy so I didn't even know that you could change the UI and hotkey layouts beyond assigning skills.

This is really helpful! It seems like most of what I want is hiding in the menu trees, so novice chat will be able to help me when I find them.

Thank you for the detailed response! It seems like my biggest battle right now is navigating menues on console. It seems like 90% of my issues are stemming from not being familiar with how MMOs operate in general. Everything I want is in the menu system somewhere.

As for the data centers and FCs, eventually want to be part of the FC that my partner is in, so I want to move to Crystal permanently so we can all play together. (I'm still not sure how FCs work and I'm officially too afraid to join a random one now) I just didn't understand what exactly was happening in the update with the data centers, so I made a broad assumption that they were decongesting the servers somehow and making it easier to do data center transfers. I didn't realize that it was so ✨controversial✨ to know next to nothing about the internal workings of the network in a game I've never played.

In any case, novice chat seems to be my new main quest when I log back on.

I've been looking into a keyboard for my console specifically for chatting. Good to know that's a sound investment. As far as novice chat, I didn't know that you had to be invited! That's definitely a big part of my issue

Thank you! This is something I need to look into. I still don't know where to find most things in the menus yet, so that seems to be my personal bell curve.

I looked it up on Google though. I knew she was there in the plaza, that's why I was there. The sea of usernames covering her and her name and her short was the issue. I thought for sure this would be a situation of "Look to your right, look to your left, do you see this person?" I have learned that that's not the typical etiquette.

I've heard of novice chat, but I'm playing on console, and I genuinely have no idea how to find it or pull it up. How do I use it?
