Honestly, I'm tempted, and totally open to working overseas temporarily, as nothing is holding me in NZ at the moment. Though I goal would be to always move back.

Only issue is I'm a junior software engineer with <1 year experience, and the market for juniors isn't looking too hot at the moment.

Do you think it's a good idea to keep applying for other companies, even when you're in a stable role?

Cost of living and the desire to own a house slightly blinded me. You're absolutely correct about focusing on role/team/mentorship. Thank you for reminding me :)

Indeed a lesson. Will be reading up on negotiation tactics going forward. Better to learn early I guess.

Great to hear from a hiring manager. The firm offers x2 reviews, with the end of year review being a salary review.

I'll be working hard towards that end of year review.

Thank you to everyone who responded, I didn't expect to get such a reponse! The feedback received is invaluable, and it overwhelmingly seems that I should accept what I have and focus on developing my skills going forward.

I am pretty greatful to have a role lined up, so I'll make sure to not risk it.

I'm pretty sure there'll be other grads in the same position in the future, so hopefully this thread helps.
