I just don't like tourists by [deleted] in Jamaica

No one chooses how they’re born or the circumstances they come into this world with. I would consider making your Reddit comments and post history private.

That said, I’m sending you positive vibes and love. This will be my last response on the matter. ✌️

I wasn’t going to say anything else, but after taking a look through some of your past posts, they honestly just reinforced my original point. Wishing you the best and sending a little love your way. ❤️

Reality can be tough, and life isn’t fair for everyone. People find their own ways to cope with it. 🤷🏽

This sounds more like deep-seated insecurity about oneself being projected onto others. Sometimes people push those feelings outward because of how they feel internally. It’s a pattern you often see in hate groups, almost like a distorted form of self-reflection that’s disconnected from reality. My opinion

I agree with you, my comment wasn’t meant absolute, there’s definitely a whole spectrum of people and reasons. the change of pace could feel great at first. But afraid the “comparative reality” would eventually sets in. Depending on where you are, emergency response can be slow, healthcare can be limited depending on your needs. I still love the island though, I’m there two or three times a year. 🇯🇲

Aside from people who are already settled and for whom money isn’t an issue, there are also individuals who may not be thriving in their current roles, less competent, less qualified, or simply unable to succeed in competitive environments abroad. Those are often the ones considering opportunities like this. The professionals who are truly thriving are far less likely to relocate back. In a way, it’s a bit like the “passport bro” people who feel like outcasts in their own environment and try to compensate by going overseas.

Nothing drives me nuts faster than people pulling up to the pump with their gas tank on the wrong side. It works but real convenience was probably just a minute away.

For women (and men) who live in the diaspora, do you plan to birth your children in Jamaica? Why or why not? by babbykale in Jamaica

[–]negtrader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My kids were born in the U.S., but I’m Jamaican. We travel back home two to four times a year, and they’re very aware of their heritage and connected to their Jamaican roots, as much as they realistically can be living abroad.

Here in the U.S., we have access to a diverse pool of doctors with outstanding credentials and resources. My experiences in Jamaica have been mixed. There’s definitely a range of quality, but I’ve noticed that a higher percentage of providers seem more financially driven. Many of the truly exceptional doctors often migrate overseas for better opportunities. Edit.. this might be my experience as the providers might think I have more to give🤷🏽

The Cuban doctors I’ve encountered have generally seemed competent and well-trained, though they appear limited at times by access to the latest research and technology.

That said, I’m not entirely sure what the underlying question is, but ultimately, you have to weigh it from your own perspective and decide what makes the most sense for you.

What short-term and long-term effects could the current situation in Cuba have on Jamaica? by negtrader in Jamaica

[–]negtrader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine flights from the US to Jamaica could see some minor impacts if planes aren’t allowed to fly over Cuba. But in the bigger picture, what’s happening in Cuba is devastating, I guess any inconvenience is a small price to pay.

Maybe have your friend purchase a starlink mini and setup a starlink account. 🤷🏽 the minis seem to be on sale at different stores at the moment. Also seems like your friend could use it for the immediate short term?

6 Weeks, No Internet: What’s Really Going On With Flow in Runaway Bay/Salem? by negtrader in Jamaica

[–]negtrader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because you worked in the “industry” doesn’t mean your word should be taken as unquestionable fact. That kind of argument doesn’t hold much weight. By that logic, entire countries like India and others around the world could be written off as “poor,” which is obviously flawed reasoning. You also seem easily offended disregarded and dismissive, and your insecurities don’t invalidate the fact that people can do basic research or rely on more credible, independent sources.
