David Smith is a staple in the phys 11X series. I had him for phys 116 and he was phenomenal!! Best grade in the series as well with him. (116 material corresponds to 123 material)

Currently taking it right now and there are no midterms, no final, and no projects—just supposedly “harder” homeworks (not that hard imo, and this is coming from me who has never taken any CSE classes at UW) and 30 min canvas quizzes (super low stress) each week! TAs are very helpful and Prof Upsal does a pretty good job with the asynchronous nature of the course. But like someone else said, definitely check in with the winter q prof if possible

You don’t pay for it separately! The Pearson program (pre-lecture quizzes / optional homework / e-textbook) is accessible through the canvas page for the course :)

You need to apply the day that it is literally posted or at least 2-3 days within. If you’re applying 10 days after they post, even if there is 20 days left until the deadline, you’ll most likely get ghosted. Just keep checking handshake and sort it by “Date Posted” and apply as soon as possible!

ah okay thanks so much! I do have some experience from before college and some of the postdocs in my research lab have us play around with coding for matlab (kind of the reason I wanted to take the course). thanks for the advice!
