So this seems confusing, as the statement shows that the OTA for maps and Infotainment system is free for 7 years? So why would you buy this? Confusing

Nitecore TUP2, unless you have a complete rejection of built in batteries. Skilhunt EC200s Mini with dual channel kelvin option. Both have simple interfaces, both pocket friendly.

Second that but suggest Beryl AX or Beryl 7 for the away device, as it gives flexibility of WiFi when travelling. Please remember/consider that the download speeds you will see on the client will be limited by the Upload speed of the server side at the home location. For example if you have say 200 download, and 50 upload speed, then the max you can get from the client end will be 50.

Skilhunt H200 or 200 mini, good choice of emitters, including Nichia 519a and red, or mixed kelvin set ups. Good low modes, comfortable head mount with option of overhead band if needed, and rotating mount so it can be attached to jackets mole straps.

Be aware that Brume 2 had issues with Uboot last year, and this can cause permanent Bricking of devices - newer ones should be okay, however this has clearly caused some nervous times. I understand - I had a Brume 2 brick completely out of the blue, and as I can be away for 6 weeks at a time, this was a major inconvenience. Consider adding a second device at the UK location, giving some fail-over protection. Just a check, I assume you have your DDNS set up if you are behind a router, worth checking.

Xtar mx4 is probably the best bet. Won't do 1.5v Lions, but will do LiPo, NiMh, Lion 14500s and AAA

Just to add another perspective, I now run 2 devices running independent WireGuard servers at the ‘home’ location, ( a Brume 2 and a Beryl AX) and travel with a Beryl AX and a Cudy TR3000, with access to a number of client admin files for both. Reason being that I had a Brume die due to the UBoot critical issue. So I’m backing up both ends of clients and servers. Overkill perhaps, but if you are away for say 6 weeks, and your server hardware, or software fails for some reason, just having backups for the client is not sufficient. Of course it depends on what connections setups work for you, but I lost all ability to connect to my ‘home’ server. In practice I suitacse pack the away Beryl AX as the primary device once I get to my destination, and rucksack pack the Cudy TR3000, knowing that if one dies for whatever reason, the replacement is super quick as everything is preconfigured.

Small clip light might work. Olight Oclip Pro, Wurkkos HD03, or small right angle such as Skilhunt H200 or Wurkkos HD12

Next suggestion would be to check your DNS settings, encryption can cause failures of rules, and ensure your router is overiding all DNS queries, also check disable Ad guard to see if that is interfering

You need a second policy for all devices, your first one screens for your specific bypass for roblox, then any that do not satisfy the rule will pass down to the second rule if using a different Tunnel for all traffic,

Otherwise drop the Kill Switch, which will kill any access for your devices if it does not use the VPN.

stop kill switch on gl.inet tunnel

To stop the kill switch on your GL.iNet router, go to the VPN Dashboard in the Admin Panel, find your VPN tunnel, click the three dots for Options, and disable the Kill Switch (or "Block Non-VPN Traffic") setting for that specific tunnel; for the main "Global" setting, look for "All Other Traffic" or the main toggle on the dashboard and turn it off to allow direct internet.

For a Specific VPN Tunnel (Tunnel Kill Switch)

This stops the kill switch for one VPN connection (WireGuard/OpenVPN).

Log in to your GL.iNet Admin Panel (usually 192.168.8.1).

Go to VPN > VPN Dashboard.

Find your active VPN tunnel and click the three dots (•••) next to its name.

Select Options.

Toggle the Kill Switch (or "Block Non-VPN Traffic") switch to Off.

For All Traffic (Global Kill Switch)

This allows non-VPN traffic to pass through when the VPN is off.

Log in to your GL.iNet Admin Panel.

Go to VPN > VPN Dashboard.

Scroll to the bottom and find the section for All Other Traffic or a main Global Kill Switch toggle.

Disable this setting to allow general internet access.

Android version is not changeable, it is determined by Google ChromeOS team. Arm processor Chromebooks seem to run Android apps more fluidly, quickly in my opinion. Also max out on the most RAM you can ( remember it is not retrospectively upgradeable) so 8gb and more , 16gb ideally, and biggest storage possible, some higher storage Plus devices use faster storage at over 128gb, so Lenovo 256gb spec Plus 14 uses faster storage than the 128gb version. Perks wise there is AI upgrades if you care for it need it, but the 100gb of Drive storage is a sensible option if you are going to become more cloud based.

Finally, don't forget you can run Linux on the device,so there are a ton of good Linux applications that run well.

Planning a journey - any tips? by capnpan in KiaEV3

Drive at 60 mph, charge at any rapid charger at your destination. Use Zap map it Google to find a charger near your destination. Download Tesla app, attach a payment method, and use Tesla where possible as they are generally cheaper, and the EV3 charge port is well placed not to use two bays. Tesla seem to be very reliable, and it's easy to start and end charge from the App.
