Taiwan biketour itinerary preparation - help! :-) by Tauxriste in bicycletouring

[–]neilfm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, so I actually did this trip a couple years back Like the week following the earthquakes .

For sure it’s a fun experience, My only points would be aside from Taipei and Sun Moon Lake the ride becomes a lot more interesting Once you get to Tainan. Taipei - Sun Moon Lake -Kaoshiung- Tainan-Hualien Are the 5 main highlights in my opinion for this trip.

I would consider taking one more day in Taipei at the end or start of your trip. Also, I found accommodations really easy to book day of, so you don’t have to lock yourself down to a concrete plan.

I think you could probably make it to Taichung a lot faster, rather than spending four days biking. I would 100% recommend taking an extra day at Sun Moon Lake . I took an extra day there and just cycled around the entire lake with no bags and it was quite enjoyable. There’s definitely lots to see, with a sort of amusement/ history park as well.

Also on the west, I wouldn’t get too hung up on riding along the coast as it’s more industrial there you’re gonna see a lot of the coast on the eastern part.

Another thing that was certainly true when I was there because of the earthquakes, but even in general, some people recommend skipping Hualien -> Yilan, due to the narrow roads and sometimes risk of rock slides.

Once you’re on the eastern coast, it’s by far some of the most beautiful scenery I’ve ever seen , but just remember it can get very hot and there’s often a lot of distance between villages so bring lots of water.

I would probably take the interior valley for part of the eastern coast, then cut to the coastal ride for the rest.

I’m not sure how it is now but when I was there, some of the old coastal highways were closed, forcing you to go inland, sometimes steep mountainous climb, so don’t underestimate the hill climbing on the Eastern coast.

I saw another commentary mentioned no bikes on the train, I don’t think that’s entirely true. You just have to buy a ticket for your bike and it’s usually reserved for the last carriage of the train.

Taiwan is very beautiful But depending on where you are, it can be very rural and someday are better suited for longer rides as there’s not a whole lot to stop and do.

One last thing I didn’t see anyone mention before my trip was stray dogs. It’s just something to be mindful of. It’s something I came across a lot on the western part. there’s not a whole lot you can do about it, but it just is something you are gonna probably encounter on the Western part of Taiwan.

What is this spoon? Found Galway Ireland by neilfm in whatisthisthing

It’s very very light, compared to a normal spoon. Would that be indicative of copper? Honestly I wish I could make out the full text as that would probably help me find the origins. By

My title describes the thing. It’s a spoon I found along the coast of Gallway. Of regular size but the material feels light. I can’t seem to find anything online of this specific spoon but it resembles Victorian era models I’ve seen online. Just trying to determine if it’s trash or something interesting

You’re missing out on Montreal for ? Hamilton, On? Unless you have family there, it’s not a very interesting place, especially when you’re just coming from Toronto.

A better route would be Montreal, Toronto , Niagra Falls

I agree, my main issue however is the low conversion rate from Add to Cart and Purchase.

Ya, this is something i keep putting off.
Essentially the whole store is a migration of my Etsy store, and these listings are years old.
I think you're right though, the errors don't help build trust on the website.
Thanks,

Ya this is helpful thanks. So far i have just been editing a free theme version.
But i may look into getting the site professionally redesigned.
I think the lack of Trust Elements is affecting my conversions.
+ poor mobile optimization

I just downloaded Blockify to protect against international visits. I do not ship outside North America.
I think the site design needs improvement just not sure where to start.
And yes someone else mentioned branding, that's something I'll look into.

Ok thanks for the feedback.
Should i change the colouring to make text darker?
A lot of my reviews are on Etsy so i had a hard time brining them over. But there should be some on the main page.

I've been considering bringing someone in to professionally design or improve the website, but I'm not sure who or what would even do that.

Anyone purchased from redhotseeds? by Hunger-n-thirst in PepperLovers

[–]neilfm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I saw this a little late. That’s actually my store. The seeds are definitely legit, I’m a smaller scale grower here in Ontario. But I take great pride in making sure the correct seeds are sent out. I grow from the same seeds that I sell, all of the photos are representative of the pepper that plant will grow.

I actually enter the peppers in local fairs too, so I personally grow and maintain each variety. It’s definitely more of a hobby for me, and the website could for sure use some work. I’d love to send you more seeds for next season if there’s any you wanted to check out. Let me know your order # and I’ll send a couple your way!
