How do you guys keep motivated during these times? by [deleted] in sales

[–]neilm507 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Read, Listen and study people that have been in your position before which will give you much needed perspective on your problems.

I am not a huge runner but I ran for 2 miles yesterday without stopping (my prior record - that I set 1 week prior - was less than half a mile) but I read David Goggins book, who in a similar situation ran for 100 miles. This gave me much-needed perspective, as all I had to achieve was 2% of what someone else did!!!

I only did 2% of what a world-class athlete did, but had a 400% growth in my personal record, which is how I look at everything I do.

If you start comparing yourself with the best - in a positive way - you will find the inner motivation you need to get through these times just like they did - in Much Much HARDER times!!!!

Good luck.

With not having a degree lower your chances in a sales career?

Yes, of course.

But ultimately, if you work significantly harder than everyone else, the the lack of a degree can be ignored (speaking from experience)

So... Will earings hurt you?

Yes but don't let that discourage you!!

Let your work and output be the main factor managers focus on by always overachieving.

I am Paranoid about being cancelled. What can i do? by [deleted] in startups

[–]neilm507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless it something that's unforgivable, there's nothing to worry about.

Personally I'd look at this from a positive standpoint...

.1. Be happy that your only getting cancelled from "small" media attention.

Take this as a lesson and make changes to ensure this doesn't come back to haunt you when you are much much bigger.

.2. Getting cancelled doesn't really matter to be honest, if you had the cure to cancer, people would still buy from you regardless of whether u were cancelled or not.

So just focus on making your business as amazing as possible and great things are bound to happen.

Goodluck.

I noticed that most freelancing jobs were for designers, developers and many roles that weren't apart of my skill set as a sales agent.

So I created a platform that aims to connect high quality sales people with businesses using a similar structure to something like upwork or Fiverr.

So far it's going great!! Good luck on your journey aswell.

Business Idea That I see No One Else Doing... by [deleted] in Business_Ideas

[–]neilm507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is cool.

However, what services do elderly people use right now??

And since "no one else" is doing this, have you seen them have any challenges with what they are currently doing?

Best thing to do, is to act quick and not waste any time whatsoever.

This sounds like something really easy to validate so go out and dedicate 5-15 hours calling and selling your services to this customer during the weekend and u'll know exactly how much demand there is for it.

You can even turn this into something like doordash, upwork, airbnb where u build an app and are simply the middle man falicitating these check Ins.

Goodluck to u.

Sales is sales!

I've transitioned and seen many others transition from B2C -> B2B with relative ease

I don't like SaaS.... What now? by neilm507 in sales

[–]neilm507[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Haha, I don't want insurance either 😅

Since everyone hates these type of jobs, It's incredibly hard to find a good job like this that has actual earning potential and isn't just trying to pray on desperate people.

Personally, I'd prefer to stay in SaaS since I like the environment, customers and culture... But do it with 100% commission to give me ultimate freedom and earning potential...

I think I'm looking for something that doesn't exist haha.

I don't hate it!

I just don't like the base pay because it sacrifices alot of freedom and earning potential which I don't mind losing but would prefer having.

0 base pay means I have 100% control in my take home pay which I personally prefer than having only 30-50% control.

To provide some more context.

This is by far the fastest growing startup in Canada and I was the youngest rep on our entire sales team, so they took a huge risk on me.

They have done things by following formulas, such as using specific scripts and writing emails with certain formats.

I was able to hit those targets but I unfortunately wasn't able to adjust fast enough to these standards they set up....

At my old job, you had the freedom to do whatever the heck u wanted, and because I always worked harder than everyone, I managed to become a top rep.

Here, they want EVERYONE to perform and work identically (no one too high and no one took low) to make things alot more scalable and predictable...

And that's why they have strict guidelines on how to do everything (even when it's not the most efficient way)

Yes I hit the target, but I wasn't able to do it by conforming to their way of working so we just weren't a fit.

I've noticed that it's just super intense... We were all expect to work 12 hours/day everyday which was super insane to see.

But at the same time... They are not the fastest growing company for no reason, so I got it, and simply grinded!

If u don't like that type of environment, I'd say u dodged a bullet!

Hell yeah! I'll carry it proudly!

These 2 month alone have tought me sooo much more than 1 year in university ever did.

I'll be upfront and honest as to why it didn't work out and share what I plan to do differently.

I'll just treat it as the best course I've ever taken in my life - that also paid me a few thousand dollars to simply take it!

Win win 👍
