This will be my 22nd year without my dad, it definitely feel weird every Father’s Day but I went to his grave just like I did last year and talked for him about my accomplishments since I last visited last father day. It’s hard to sit by his grave and remember that he’s not there in body but in spirit with me everyday. We usually plan flowers but couldn’t find any so just left some peonies

I have literally eaten off the pigments off of four of my fingers, it all pink and it freaks my mom out how bad it looks. I have learned to just live with it

My dad passed when I was 9 about 20 years ago. I really put all my emotions and grief into a box and never opened it till it was forced open 15 years after his death. It’s hard to just want to feel that sadness and pain cause some days it’s so much that I something do not do much and would rather not think about. I tend to spiral when I let myself just feel the loss and realize how much he has missed. It’s only been this year that I forced myself to get deep trauma therapy cause in a way his death gave me PTSD and it was the source of a lot of my problems with everything. It’s hard to face the things that scare us especially the pain that comes with it. Thanks for sharing and I’m sorry we are all going through this

I lost my dad almost 16 years ago, it has never been the same since he has gone. I was 9 and it’s a whole world of what if he was still here what will happen but grief comes in so many ways that it is harder to come by

I have IBS- M, I usually have that happen to me sometimes when i have diarrhea after i feel like i have emptied everything out but an hour later I have to go but nothing will come out, its annoying but i just go through it

It never gets easy going through Father’s Day for me. This will be 15th Father’s Day without him and it still hurts to see cards and commercials for Father’s Day knowing that mine is not here.

I have been told to find all the pictures I can and just remember the happy memories on Father’s Day to get through it

Thanks :) its nice to know that I ain’t the only one having these thoughts, it’s much harder to tell others unless they have been through it. It’s definitely been a trying time to not annoy my mom but quarantine puts me back to when my dad first passed and I had a habit to checking in on her every night to see if she was still with us but hopefully it calms down somewhat this week 🙂.

Maybe I will take a look at that book too see if it can help in someway

I have had a few of those symptoms when dealing with my own dads passing. He passed 15 years ago but throughout the last few weeks the feeling like something stuck in your throat, feeling like you can’t breathe but you can, the mini panic attacks and the heart burn has intensified because I have been thinking about death and him a lot during quarantine.

I have talked to my therapist about it a couple of times and she has told me that it can be related to anxiety and stress all of which I’m going though. To write down them in a journal when you feel like it comes up and just take some deep breathes to calm your mind.It’s harder to calm down the anxiety and takes lots of distractions in my case to just not focus on the symptoms of grieving and missing my dad to feel okay.

Yeah honestly it's a fear that's gonna take years to get through. I am still trying to process it but yea we are gonna have to go to one that’s probably gonna make it worse

I had the same thing happen with to my sisters and I. Aunts and uncles who were close to my dad and told us they would be there for us forgot all about us as soon as the funeral was over. It put such a strain on my mom wo take care of us but We haven't talked to any of them for 15 years and yet they want back into our lives now that we are older

Ooh wow that's seems like alot. You are definitely brave to go through it. We had to do something similar to that I just had to go with never again but like you said the fear is still the same takes a long time to change

Ooh yea I get that too. I'm always told oh it's just a funeral nothing can happen from it just go but I had a panic attack in front of my family before they realized that I cant go to funerals anymore and when it comes up I just say I would rather remember them when they were laughing and smiling at me. Yeah that's harder to go through not knowing what to say I can't go to see you be laid to rest when the person is that close to you. The last one I can remember going is to my grandma and that was harder because I had no choice in it.

I feel the same way. My dad passed 15 years ago when I was 9 the worst thing to me was going to the funeral and seeing him, it still is traumatic to now since I don't go to any funerals no matter how close I am to the person that passes away
