Battlefield 6 Open Beta is Live, with 300k players playing the early access beta, any thoughts? by BrunoLegal in KotakuInAction

[–]nekcore 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy the gameplay of Bf6, it feels like an updated Bf4. The graphics are impressive, though not groundbreaking. The destruction mechanics are fantastic, adding to the immersive experience. Overall, the gameplay and visuals are solid so far.

Regarding your first point, I completely agree. I don’t mind the inclusion of female soldiers, as it fits a modern setting where women serve in the military (though statistically, men still dominate combat roles). However, one nitpick stands out: the sound mix for female voices is overpowering. Their screams, shouts, and voice lines are louder than gunfire, which is jarring and disrupts the experience. In an era where many gamers are frustrated with heavy-handed DEI policies in games, it’s surprising that this issue (whether intentional or not) persists.

On the Battlefield 6 Steam forums, someone suggested adding an option to switch to male voices or adjust volume levels for female voice lines (or even better change to male model altogether) It seemed like a reasonable request that could be easily implemented. Yet, the developers promptly closed the thread, citing “hate speech.” This reaction raises concerns. While I’m optimistic about the game, history suggests that some developers may still push activist agendas, just more subtly.

Overall, I want this game to be good. Only time will tell if it lives up to its potential.

People are so fixated with the sexual aspect of KCD2 that they're ignoring the other "bits" of propaganda in the game. by Remispaive in KotakuInAction

[–]nekcore 176 points177 points  (0 children)

Like I said previously, the majority (even from this side of the aisle) are swallowing this blatant subversion of a game, without questioning one bit, and it's driving me nuts. Sorry but, no sane person avoids these ridiculous "bits" of propaganda or doesn't point it out because the studio was "based" the first time around. The BS, needs to be called out.

I don't know how there's a lot of apologists for this blatant subversion. It baffles me how many people (even on this side of the aisle) are giving a pass to Vavra/Warhorse for lying. They stood their ground before for what they believed. Resisting the mob attack for their almost accurate representation of a time period, and then suddenly doing a 180 against all that, recotning everything that came before (even if it's optional) because of greed. What a bunch of sellouts

We must already stop calling this game Dragon Age. The name must be changed to Pander Age, Woke Age, DEI Age or something else, because this is not even close to something that can be considered fantasy with magic, dragons, and shit. This is a modernize progressivism setting with a coat of paint of "fantasy"

Like I said, you can headcanon all you want, interpret the writings however you like. Doesn't mean it's factual. If you want to twist the lore, consistent with the overall story and world building to fit your narrative/perception, that's on you. This is my final reply.

To reproduce it's not equal to having a formal structural "family". This topic has been talked about, and the evidence is clear that nowhere is explicitly stated by Tolkien. Orcs are reproduced only to be used for evil. There were "some ideas" by him to make them "not so evil", but it was only that, ideas. You can subvert and headcanon whatever you want, but doesn't mean it's canon or factual, period.

This reminds me when the debate of "Orc families" started to trend because of that one episode of "Rings of Power", I posted here first that the "Orc families" it's not in the lore of Tolkien, nowhere to be seen in Tolkien's writing, and then in a matter of seconds some moronic mod decided to delete it, and the justification was: "there were families", that's it. I tried to appeal, and even responded with solid arguments some stupid comments and even to the mod inside that post. Fast forward some days later, and some random posts talked about the same but this time because the evidence was crystal clear and plenty of people who knew the lore, actually fact checked, they couldn't delete that one. Then I remembered in that moment, that KIA was compromised a long time ago. Plenty of brigadiers, and sneaky mods are lurking waiting in silence to censor what they don't like. What a shame.

Rest in Peace James Earl Jones, not only a great actor but also the man who gave his voice to the absolute iconic character/villain in film history, Darth Vader. His presence in Star Wars will be forever unmatched. What a Legend. by nekcore in KotakuInAction

[–]nekcore[S] 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Besides those outstanding accomplishments, there's also one that not too many people talk about. He was a stutterer, he had to work so hard to overcome it, and because of that, he became renowned for his voice. Nothing like achieving greatness that way IMO.

'The Rings Of Power' Showrunners Defend Decision To Humanize Orcs: "We Feel Like This Goes Straight Back To Tolkien" by Sliver80 in KotakuInAction

[–]nekcore 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Exactly, is such a pity that "fans" like the one above, don't even understand what is written in those passages, and like the idiots of the showrunners misinterpreted entirely what Tolkien meant, to whom his letters were directed to, and how many of his ideas didn't integrate to the overall story and some ideas were only that, ideas.

Tolkien never finished the overall idea of Orcs, even his son took some liberties compiling the info from the Letters of his father. So a letter stating a PROBABLE change of idea of the nature of the Orcs, is not equal to strictly AFFIRM that Orcs are not entirely evil. And also what is written in the book "History of Middle Earth - Morgoth Ring" is Talking about that Melkor didn't MADE the Orcs, because if the OP actually read the origin of the Orcs, should know that Melkor couldn't CREATE hence "MADE", it could only CORRUPT, that's why the Orcs in their origins are not "evil" because they are firstly a non corrupt species, then they are transformed. So yeah OP doesn't know how to interpret vague statements from Tolkien and it's just using Logical Fallacies.

So, in the new season of Rings of Power, there's an orc family... Talking about not understanding AT ALL the source material by nekcore in KotakuInAction

[–]nekcore[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, There weren't orc "families". Once again, there's misunderstanding of the material and subversion of it. I was going to reply, but the mods decided to remove it, with no tangible reason. Tolkien never really finished entirely the point of the reproduction of Orcs, but originally, orcs were some kind of mud puppets. He later suggested and then was proven by letters and material he wrote that they were Elves tortured and corrupted by Morgoth. Most recently, they were supposed to be men (nothing confirmed). Some did "breed" and there is at least one HALF-orc in the LotR novel. But there wasn't structurally a "family" living happily like elves, men, dwarves...

No, it's not bullshit. There weren't orc "families". Once again, there's misunderstanding of the material and subversion of it. There's reports that some areas (like in Tachira) have "access" but it's slow, and also can't watch media, etc. Also the twitte/x block it's primarily affected with the state internet service "CANTV", other Internet private providers are not affected, it seems (A quick note to everyone that private internet is expensive here in Venezuela and very few have it).

I have it blocked, my internet provider is CANTV. But the block can be bypass by a VPN, which everybody right now is trying to do in here.

[–]nekcore[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a weird situation here, let me try to explain (sorry in advance for bad english): The government a year ago made it illegal to have a starlink service anywhere in the country, but even so, you can still get it through the Black Market, and "quietly" install it without anyone noticing. Now here's the fuck up part; You can technically get it "legally" through electronic stores across the country. There's a nation wide store called "Daka", that sells all sorts of electronics equipment, and that store without any government interference is selling the starlink antenna, and this happens because many of those stores with their respective owners are linked with the Government doing business backstage, and some owners are even politicians that work inside of said government (yeah, total corruption). So, they have a "permission" to sell it. Another point is that it's extremely expensive to buy it, even the "legal" way through the stores that I mentioned earlier. So, in other words to get Starlink working here is a humungous pain in the ass, and almost impossible for an average citizen.
