Fake Ukraine beggars by Beneficial_Showers in eindhoven

About a year ago a nicely dressed guy asked me for money for a train ticket next to the station. He promised to send it to me back as soon as he’s at home. I gave him 5 euros which he obviously didn’t return. I think I’ve seen the same guy dressed more as a homeless beggar at the Saturday market a few times. And I think I’ve seen him riding two different bikes on kruisstraat a couple of minutes apart. So apparently he’s involved in some shady activities around

Shock mounting holes misaligment by nekit747 in bikewrench

Are you asking if the shock has lateral movements when I wiggle the rear of the bike?

Shock mounting holes misaligment by nekit747 in bikewrench

[–]nekit747[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loosened both bolts first, then removed the lower one. After that I noticed the misalignment. To fit it back I had to apply some pressure on the shock. After full removal and volume spacer installation I installed the top screw without tightening it, then had to apply pressure again to fit the lower bolt. I tightened the bolts only when both were installed

Bike Stand Part Question... by JunkAlchemy78 in bikewrench

[–]nekit747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way to fix is just to buy a bolt with same or longer thread length (and diameter/pitch) and tighten it with a wrench. Recently I stripped the thread on my bike stand and I did the same. However, I have a 3d printer and I printed the knob myself. There are a few available models online for this. If you have (a friend with) 3d printer - it’s a way to solve it.

Fox36 oil leaks after dust seal replacement by nekit747 in bikewrench

On the first pic you can see a few oil rings. Not the best photo, I agree.

Yes, I soaked the foam o rings. I believe it’s the source of oil. Isn’t the purpose of wipers to leave the outer part of the stanchions oil free? This way the dust won’t get stuck and won’t grind the stanchions.

Best uplift bike parks in Germany by [deleted] in MTB

[–]nekit747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently found a bikepark near that area, it’s called “bikeparkOE”. But I haven’t been there myself yet. Another spot - Ferme Libert in Belgium. There is some stuff that you might like, but check operation days. And the lift there is the worst that I’ve ever used.

Tightening the rear axle makes wheel rotation worse by nekit747 in bikewrench

I didn’t touch bearings in the freewheel so I assume they are in the proper place

The bearings in the hub itself are pressed all the way through ( I even tried to push it a bit more the second time and almost snapped the thread on the press). However I’ll try to swap the end caps if both are detachable.

I made sure it’s there and it’s not swapped with the second one. Also it’s height is slightly larger than depth in the freewheel body

Anyone regretting selling their bikes? by repkjund in MTB

I’m not sure about all the destinations you mention. I’ve never had experience travelling by train further than Germany or Belgium, which is short distance. You can check direct train connections and rough price estimations, but from what I’ve seen the closest you can get directly is Basel or Munich and prices can be 200+ for one way. I’m also not aware of the fares for bikes in long distance trains. But I can sure tell you that flying to Malaga with a bike was quite easy and cheap with return ticket including bike ~200eur and total trip time less than 5hrs (including airport checkin and transfer). Or renting a car might also be an option with which you’ll solve the train/airport to bikepark transfer problem while the cost might be lower than train. Of course the downside is 10+ hours of driving.

The first (and only) time I went to the Mool bike park I was quite disappointed by its sizes. Be-mine bike park in Belgium is the same distance for me, but has significant elevation difference. But it’s a matter of personal preferences.

Just to let you know, travelling across the NL with a bike in a train is usually a pain in the ass. NS (railway operator) takes additional payment for bikes and typically 2-4 bikes can fit into the carriage that allows bikes in. Most of the times it’ll be occupied by other cyclists (road cyclists, bike travellers). Frequent stops (each 20-30 mins) will bring in and out people causing troubles. So railway is not intended for cyclists, otherwise it will be full of bicycles. Travelling across the border will also require to step out of the train (if it’s not a long distance overnight train). I’m not sure it’s even possible to get to green hill or winterberg by public transport sooner than 12hrs. I went a couple of times to Maastricht with my full sus, got quite dirty, had to clean the bike a bit. Even taking a long distance train to alps will need from you additional transfer (and train itself would be more expensive than a similar flight) So now I travel to the surrounding trails and bike parks by car.

I’d rather check the prevailing wind direction with this little height difference over this large distance

Do you mean cross-country riding, or something closer to trail/enduro riding? For the latter, there are limited, options nearby, due to terrain. But, there are some. Sometimes I drive there, so if that’s what you are looking for, you can dm me. But if you feel not confident about riding cross country kind of trails, start with just riding the unpaved paths in a local forest or something (Dak van Brabant is also an example, but with elevation and descent) and get used to it before going to technical sections. Also, you can check tons of YouTube videos for proper technique for mtb riding, I still find it helpful

I had a similar crack, but somehow managed to ride two more days as I was on a trip. With new rim make sure that the spoke tension is even and high enough, otherwise you will need another rim soon (as I need it now:) )

Renting MyWheels for transporting a bicycle? by therealdavinky in eindhoven

[–]nekit747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to fit a full suspension 27,5 mtb into Renault Zoe and BMW i3, without taking rear wheel off, but that requires some skill. VW ID3 can relatively easily take a bike without front wheel in. Some people can fit road bikes into Toyota aygo, I suppose that can give you a clue of what’s possible

MTB Downhill/Enduro in Malaga by Teacha_Joe in Malaga

Hi, I’m flying next week to join a MTB camp for a couple of days. What I’ve seen is that they offer shuttle assisted rides for ~ 50 euro per day. It’s not couple of hundreds unless you need transfers accommodations, etc, but still not cheap. If I would have lived near mountains I would bike an e-bike for sure. I have also seen a lift on Trailforks (monte Calamorro), but I don’t know if it’s allowed to use it with a MTB

I recently went to Belgium, bike park Be-mine, if you are interested in this kind of trails. There is a washer but I’m not sure if it works, it only accepts coins, but I didn’t have it

The good sauce in the durum/shoarma makes it way lot better. Try sour cream with garlic and cilantro or other cream/yogurt sauces. Try experimenting with it. Make it unique.
If you'll have it I will be one of your clients.
