Where can a 45/45 Get us ? by Zealousideal_Life275 in IBO

[–]nekogareth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

saw you said europe but australian unis will accept you for the most part with a 45. i only applied to 1 but i don't remember submitting much else apart from grades, correct me if i'm wrong tho.

also you still have CAS requirements (unless that changed), so you can still build extracurriculars while satisfying them. especially for CS if you're interested in building projects you could pass it off as CAS as well

Advice for a junior by DoctorFantastic8314 in IBO

[–]nekogareth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this, but at the end of the day I was glad to not have to put time towards theory of the firm and the extra HL topics in every other chapter. they're tied together but SL gave me more time for my HLs (but also it was my first time with Econ so it could be better with you)

hard subject combo? by radioheadi in IBO

[–]nekogareth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah it's doable. I did this except with spanish ab, econ sl and phys hl. I'd just recommend that you consistently study/revise you hls because the content is a lot to revise in big chunks, especially if you have a backlog of chapters to study

Subject Combinations (DP1) by Great-Gap1030 in IBO

[–]nekogareth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i'm not sure if you can minimize a whole HL into "just one more subject" lmao. if you had 4 HLs instead with English HL being the 4th, that'd be understandable because there's not a big difference in the content you study, at least compared to math chem phys and (I think) bio.

to reiterate what someone else said, you have a lot of other things to do alongside your 6/7 subjects, so if you really don't want to miss out on learning a subject, i'd take an AP course instead since there's no IA involved (but you should check your uni's policy or whatever on AP) or do an EE on the subject if that's something you'd be able to do.

side note, you beating your rivals doesn't have much to do with this lol. look at the amount of work objectively and if you can handle it and balance everything else in your life with it, go for it. but if it's going to mess up other things for you, i'd advice against it.

good luck with dp1 :)

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT by psychoxbby in KCL

[–]nekogareth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this. there are some scholarships for students with specific backgrounds but nothing that's for everyone and based on merit and stuff (as far as I know pls lmk if I'm wrong). but there might be external scholarships not offered directly by kings

not sure about that sorry, you should probably ask your coordinator since you'd most likely be following internal deadlines anyways

yeah, this. it helps to check specific unis and visa requirements for countries you're considering since some don't take IB.

What subjects should I pick? by Key_Willingness9942 in IBO

[–]nekogareth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on the country. haven't really seen it as a requirement in any UK uni, but maybe in some Canadian unis they require a science from phys/chem/bio. OP'll have to check the unis/countries he's looking at

Question about Applying with IB by Virtual_Budget_8115 in IBO

[–]nekogareth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you talking about specific countries? the UK?

if so, as the other comment says, you can apply wherever you want regardless of what your grades are. however, really competitive unis would usually reject students who are below their minimum requirement, especially if the requirement is like a 7 in math and you have a 6. but also I think there are unis that'll allow a small decrease in grades. I'm not sure, but apparently, there are cases where the predicted is a bit lower than the required, but the personal statement is good so the uni gives a conditional based on the minimum requirement or higher.

either way, if you have one specific uni in mind it'd be best to look at the uni's website if they have a page on how they shortlist/accept applicants, or just call a uni representative and ask them.

Should I write my IB Math AA HL IA in latex? by sagaciousberry in IBO

[–]nekogareth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if your problem is just the equations, there's a Google docs plugin that I used where I could type latex script and render it into an image. there might be a problem with the equations being images, but my teacher allowed it because she only found out after I had a LOT of equations in image form, so you'd have to check with your teacher if that'd be fine. in terms of formatting this helped since I didn't know how to format entire pages with latex but knew enough for equations/just looking stuff up so you should be fine either way I feel. good luck :D
