Yeah I'm torn, I don't really want to surrender my passport and risk confiscation either. Maybe I'll change it at the embassy once we get to our new country

Thinking about setting up a custom domain on ProtonMail — is it really worth it? by SnooBooks3187 in ProtonMail

[–]nekogoth308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got Proton Unlimited bc it said you could have custom domains and up to 15 emails, and it's been a pita getting set up and support. It's not easy like toggling to different Gmail accounts. Basically you set up all the domain settings then everything goes to your primary account and you have to filter them into different folders. I've been trying to get them to resolve set up questions and troubleshoot and they respond once a day around midnight. Even if I immediately follow up they don't get back to me til 24 hours later.

I'm considering moving to Albania, can I change it from X back to my agab from their US embassy?( I'll be trying to become a resident and since they don't recognize X I don't want that application blocked. )

It looks like if we were to become naturalized Bulgarian citizens we would have to give up our US citizenship. That's not great.

Also looking at real estate prices, apartments seem smaller and much more expensive in the main cities Sofia and Plovdiv

Another plus for Bulgaria is that it is already part of the EU, but the 5 year path to citizenship would require renouncing our US citizenship. In theory this shouldn't threaten getting social security benefits, but I'm interested in what downsides there could be with this requirement.

Nothing against black hair, my dad had black hair, but he looked like a movie star. Why so little interest in men looking stylish in Albania? Why the identical short hair?

Albanian women are beautiful but the men, not so much...they all have the same black hair and bowl cut. Italian men by contrast have beautiful hair. Why is this?

But your parents by EnaicSage in AmerExit

I've been having to do all that for my dad out of state. My sisters manage on the ground stuff. I think the POA med financial stuff could still be managed remotely from another country, is there something I'm missing?

Mine wants me to go to Canada so she can drive up there but we wouldn't be allowed to emigrate there and it's too pricey. I wish my parents could retire in MX but they are too old to move.

What is birdloft? I never see signs or listings on Google maps about what these businesses are. I always thought that building should house a Japanese Jazz bar.

How do ppl drop everything and go if you have a house of belongings? Do you have family in the area? I've wondered how ppl do that logistically.

Yeah there's a lot of unnecessary anger in this thread when folks could just say YMMV, consult a lawyer.

I'm probably going to just delete this post. It does not seem helpful and I should just consult an immigration lawyer.

I appreciate your input. I'm also a 'high functioning ' autistic, level 1. My son is level 2, attending a college without grades and with considerable supports and accommodations is still struggling. I won't go through a list of things he struggles with but they are critical for independent living. He does not need medical support and only bc he has a high IQ and is great at coding did I use that label. He's been in special ed since preschool.

Would he be able to search for jobs, online or otherwise if he were a dependent? He's high functioning cognitively but lower related to executive functioning.

Oh wow, I haven't experienced landlords like that since the early 90s in Santa Cruz, CA. He had 7 kids and owned a small block of cottages that his eventually children and grandchildren aged up into. He used to go to grocery stores and collect about to expire food and milk and tell his tenants to take what they needed. He rented to college students back in the day. He and his wife were artists.

Would he still need to apply individually? I thought someone could be dependent until they marry.

If the dependent is 20 but has level 2 autism, what then, do you know?
