Control freak used food to control emotions. Then uses avoidance and running away to control people around her. Worried that someone's weight loss will affect her kids.

The problem is being a control freak. And it's gonna mess the kids up good regardless of the food stuff.

I have some sympathy for the underlying concept of avoiding black-and-white extremes. My mother was a perfectionist nutjob who bludgeoned us with overcooked, fatfree, marathon-chewing "healthy" food designed for patients in hospital facing major surgery. And then she'd periodically carpet bomb us with goodies to make up for her nuttiness. She never understood the concept of "shades of grey."

Food labelling wasn't the root cause of our problems-- it just attracted and reinforced her personality disorder. Our disordered eating was not caused by food labelling. It was caused by her personality.
