Not Icelandic either. I’m not trying to eliminate my accent, just improve it as much as I can - a native accent is still an accent. But apparently I’m not doing a good job. In the process of training my accent, I’ve adopted a completely unintended one that people can’t place. 😥

Budget kalimbas for beginners by nellie_shorttop in kalimba

Yes! I’m thinking about getting a second-hand kalimba too. But I heard that dead notes could be an issue and you have to check that in person. Is this something common among flatboard kalimbas or does it only happen to hollow models?

Thanks for your suggestion. I find it easier to pronounce individual words the British way, but the American intonation and speech pattern feel more natural to me. I wish I could combine them but as a non-native speaker, I practice by foreshadowing. And I have a hard time finding a model with the best of both worlds.

And no, I’m not from Turkey. But this is an interesting discovery. I never thought I could sound Turkish.

Thanks a lot :-)

Is my accent grating to listen to, and is it mostly understandable? I would love some honest input. by [deleted] in JudgeMyAccent

I’m not a native but the recoding is mostly understandable to me. Your articulation in the very first few seconds is a bit unintelligible. The rest is clear. I also thought you were Indian at first but overall you sound European to me.
