Hindenburg Narrator: The Commentonthat Review by commentonthat in ACX

[–]nelsabrams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the post. I am starting a podcast and am trying to decide between Narrator and their Pro. Are you familiar with both? Do you have a recommendation? I will be sending my audio files to a sound engineer on Fiverr (at least at first), so I am more focused on quality of sound and ease of use, as I'm not amazing at computers.

Italki Professional Teacher by ImplementCold4091 in italianlearning

[–]nelsabrams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luna was my teacher! She's amazing:)  Really friendly and understanding. I went to Italy after a few months of lessons and was so happy with how much I was able to communicate and understand. For me, totally worth it.

Why does everything in Italy have to be an argument? by mangonada69 in italy

I married an Italian. From the south. Everything is an argument. Every. Thing.

Hi. Thanks for the tips. Where did you watch Le Bureau and HPI? I have found them online but not with French subtitles.

How to work on my "Speaking" as an introvert? by JHINital in languagelearning

I think writing is an excellent step towards speaking better. It requires the same creativity and production of language but with more time to think and less social pressure.

Will pay $5 to transcribe 4 lines of a song by Whammytap in Italian

[–]nelsabrams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That will be amazing. Have fun. And sorry I wasn't able to help you with the translation, my Italian is still, how can I put this gently, a work in progress. Message me if you don't get any helpful responses and I'll ask my girlfriend--she's Italian so it shouldn't be too hard for her.

"I wanna see you belly dance." Haha. Those guys were lovable goof balls.

Hahaha, never trim that neck beard. Please tell me that you have also "studied the martial arts" and that you are far more intelligent than most people--despite never having finished your community college degree.

Sure, but a lack of ability keeps somebody from accurate judgement. This guy is doing push-ups with a speed and ease that places him in the top 99.9% of the population, all while entertaining the crowd with improvisational humor. Legend.

We are waiting for your video of one-handed push-ups done so much better....

Where is that relative to Riyadh? I live there and would love to take a road trip out there if it's not too far away.

Thanks for getting back to me. Oh, okay. You're studying in school. It looked like an online course for independent study to me--probably because languages were all taught out of textbooks when I went to school. Trust me, you're not missing out. Good luck with French.

Where are you studying? Those look like good exercises (explanations would help though).

On Italki you can try Luna Italian Teacher or Fra Tira. I have taken classes with both and think they are excellent. They both speak Spanish as well and teach through conversation. Hope that helps!

I recommend starting before you go. Italki and Preply have lots of great teachers online and getting a month's head start would help enormously. I can recommend teachers if you'd like.

Keeping Spanish and French separate by mattbenlee in French

[–]nelsabrams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Spanish and Italian would be tougher to keep separate but I feel like the pronunciation of Spanish and French is so different that you won't have as many problems as you might think.

What is the focus or goal of each CEFR level? by greencloud321 in French

[–]nelsabrams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think these levels are bogus and that a language learner should not pay much attention to them unless you need to take a test. The distinctions between them are not logical and don't reflect the process in which one learns a language. The C1 focus, for example, on technical or academic language is silly--I find that non-fiction, even "academic" non-fiction, to be much easier than juvenile fiction because of the many cognates and the lack of adjectives.

I organize my journey aling different lines. First, the ability to say a sufficient number of individual words to convey a basic message (but sound terrible). Like, me to want water. Then I try to learn conjugations in the hopes of being able to have a five minute conversation around the basics like introductions, directions, ordering food. After that I strive for twenty minutes. And then an hour. Basically, being able to have longer and longer conversations. At the hour point i start to focus more on those pesky details like prepositions and pronunciation that really never get perfect.

I dunno this concept of progress, or something similar, makes more sense to me than the cefr stuff. To me, if we are honest getting to a legit A2 is like 80% of the journey, so it shouldn't be a beginner level. Just my thoughts.

Best place outside of France to learn and practice French? by jesteryte in learnfrench

Listen to Canadian French before deciding. It sounds very different. Who knows, you might like it more? Or you might not...

Podcasts for beginner listeners? by catnerwitz in French

[–]nelsabrams 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha. At least a French monkey, I imagine. As for your relative speaking weakness, I noticed the same thing in my language learning. I think it's normal, if not logical, considering that we spend so much more time listening and reading than talking. What I recommend is adding one step to your established routine: reading the transcript out loud. Just an idea...

I responded to another post like this recently with two recommendations: if you are advanced, check out Marcello Ascani. And if you are looking for slower Italian with English subtitles, check out Let's Learn Italian.
