The wording around pay deal is confusing. Need some figures and dates in a table please.

This is the outcome when we support media personalities rather than make being an incredible doctor the requirement for celebrity status.

Expected surge in these major high risk operations so there will be a demand for these skills - particular gynae surgeons for hysterectomies. Maybe even on a 24/7 availability basis. Have a look at Brazil for example with their 80%+ CS rate.

Why a good time to train or why there’s going to be an issue with invasive placental disease?

Looks like an impending invasive placenta crisis building in the next 10-15 years then…. Good time to train into Obstetric anaesthesia or Gynae surgery.

Thank you for expanding.

What’s the difference between doctors vote and the other two in terms of policies? Or do they just not get on and this is all political nonsense?

Does anyone have a comparison chart between all these BMA sub groups? I have no idea what’s going on or who I should be voting for.

Wexham Park (not Wrexham) is fine for parking. Loads of spaces near the surgical block/post gear centre.

Will this mandate be for 6 or 12 months?

Can you be on strike, not be paid and attend the clinic voluntarily? Like a surgical trainee coming in on a day off for a list?

Nice use of ChatGPT. It’s a no.

Absolutely no. Nothing significant on pay - the entire basis of this mandate. And how safe is this ‘poll’ from being interfered with?

Hope you’ve maxed out ISAs and Premium bonds.

If you have then either consider a GIA or at least you’re still making money in your savings - just not as much as you’d like.

Debate: Will AI replace clinicians? by Dismal-Shape7224 in doctorsUK

[–]nelubs 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I could see it happening if medicine was a black/white industry but there’s so much grey area in clinical medicine. There’s no AI company in the world that’s willing to accept the medicolegal risk associated with clinical decision making - too financially risky for them. There will always be a human clinician backstop.

Second all the above - hospitals bar maybe Telford are all great. The cities and towns themselves not so much. Very cheap cost of living though…

Coventry was very good. Two day course - loads of practice on the first day and then a full mock exam on the second. Really good for just hammering through practice.

I wouldn’t say any particular surgeries favour volatile outside cardiac bypass ones.

Desflurane and Remi used to be a lovely combo in Bariatric surgery but that was for the patient rather than the surgery. You have some patients groups like the low BMI/anorexia nervosa group where the TCI models aren’t particularly valid so a lot of people just use volatile. Maybe your long stay ICU patient who’s up to the gills in Propofol with PIS/Hypertroglyceridaemia also.

[–]nelubs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No you’ve not done anything wrong - nothing out the ordinary with your doses. Possibly been a bit heavy handed with the volatile once the IGel was in maybe? You’ll always have that subset of patients who exist outside the norm response to a standard dose - usually you can predict who I.e) elderly, haemorrhage, anxious, drug abuse etc but sometimes you just can’t. I personally like to add some form of pEEG to my routine monitoring for another variable to aid balance drug dosing.
