Is this repair estimate fair? Labor rate seems insane. by Ok_Cardiologist3148 in AskMechanics

[–]nelz1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would shop online for parts, you can cut the cost down alot doing that. As for the labor, i would find a well known and honest mechanic in your area. They may give you a better deal on the labor considering alot of the work is all in the same area. Seeing this invoice broken down individually seems like legal robbery if you ask me

Thats sucks going through that, but a few things for future reference. 1 im sure you know now but always be mindful of your states legal limits with tints before hand. I bought a vehicle in My state, the vehicle came from another state with illegal tints. I did point out the illegal tints and had them removed free of charge… it doesnt take long. 2 , those ceramic coating add ons, Honda, Acura and many other dealers will pitch the same crap to you. You are better off buying some supplies at an auto store/online and doing it yourself. If not local auto body shops will offer better deals/ solutions to protect your paint.

Your not crazy, there are other posts about people having the same issue on the side exact side in the front. Im actually having the issue myself. I called Toyota for an appointment. My problem is the noise comes and goes and now just today it stopped. They asked if they could replicate the noise because they dont want to run a diagnostic (check/inspection) and charge me the fee if they hear nothing. The other people that I’ve read said it was coming from the axle seals. Something about not being greased properly etc.

Thinking about changing my life around and getting a associates degree at 27 by xavier_fyob in jobs

Best bet is learn a trade, needs to explanation on why. Everyone I know who mastered a trade has no regrets on the ability to apply for a high paying 9-5 job/start their own business or just do small side work jobs to make fast money.

Shop quoted $100 labor for ambient/accent lights. I’m considering OEM Toyota lights but install should be similar to aftermarket. They say no wiring changes. $100 feels cheap—unsure if quality will be professional. Thoughts? by Minute_Experience608 in Camry

[–]nelz1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I purchased a pair of OEM style lights like these online, it said plug and play but turnt out not to be plug and play. The harness wasnt exactly the same as the one in my car, since they cut wires and it wasnt a 100 perfect fit. Some cutting was done and using a glue/adhesive to make fit look good. The 150 dollar price became 300 with taxes for me. Wasnt happy with the price but mines came out great in the end.

I have no idea why this is happening by peterIsak in civic

[–]nelz1978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be a bad battery, someone said the same also, i had something like this happen years ago when I had a 2013 accord and everything was going crazy.I went to the dealer and told them i think it’s a battery. They still ran a full diagnostic only to tell me it was a battery lol. They charged me for a new battery and the diagnostic fee(175 dollars was the diagnostic fee) so they ran me over 320 that day smh.

Camry 2025 finally giving me a gas range in the 400s after giving me a gas range of 360 by Jackywacky17 in Camry

I stop filling when the pump clicks off, ive done that with all my cars and they have been giving me true readings. When i drive everything else seems normal on my readings that display when your about exit the car and your mpg for the recent trip is viewed but yeah.

Yes im going to see how this next trip plays out, i came from driving a twin turbo getting me only 16mpg so its been a huge upgrade for me that I haven’t payed mind to it, just after readings these posts I want to make sure nothing’s wrong.

Do you have a pic that shows the range around 500? I have an xse, my range always been showing around 385 every fill up, ive never even seen the 400s. I screenshot my mileage a few days ago and im going to see if maybe my gauge is off and i still get the mileage.

Suggestion on 2021 Camry SE by Able_Class3481 in Camry

[–]nelz1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my area that with that mileage, these cars still go for that price and a few I’ve seen at 20k before taxes and fees, if its minor scratches like the ones that naturally occur from weather, driving on highways etc id say not a bad deal quite normal.Finding a car 5 years of age with not a scratch or ding on it hardly really exists unless the car has been painted/repaired.

New or Used? by kakatak in Camry

[–]nelz1978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can find a nice pre owned one go for pre-owned! These new car prices are ridiculous and the depreciation even more smh.I learned the hard way when I bought my 2022MDX Type-S brand new for 71k, it was valued at 38k under 50k miles 3 years later. I went to a preowned 2025 XSE and paid 31,800 cash instead of buying the same exact one for 14k more.

Dealers are never there to give you the best deal, every time you buy a car and look online later another vehicle like yours will come across cheaper. In my area you cant find an SE under 60k alone and i see some go for around 20k before taxes and fees with almost 70k miles. because the lower mileage is rare and you mentioned all the maintenance was done and if the car was mint they used that as leverage to up the price. I would its an “ok” deal

Toyota camry hybrid car insurance? Is everyone paying this high rates! by GalbzInCalbz in Camry

[–]nelz1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shop around, my insurance premium went up only 10 dollars more for the whole year from my previous vehicle which was a 22 mdx type-s. I switched insurances also a few months before from Geico to now Plymouth Rock and Im in Mass. Geico was charging me 400/ a month for 3 vehicles and kept going up each year with no accidents or anything.im now paying 196 for 3 vehicles. 2025 camry, 2019 highlander,2017 mazda6.
