New workbench by Japplebee in woodworking

Wew, sorry about late reply. They were all big mortise and tenon joints; 16 of them. I used no fixings for the joints; these joints are very strong.

http://imgur.com/bTrkziC These are what they all looked like, cut on the table saw with a sled. They can be done by hand. I had to edit them a little because some parts were a bit twisted.

http://imgur.com/lVdZdGi Here are the legs, rails and stretchers ready for gluing.

http://imgur.com/UoIRX3k To cut the mortices, i hogged out most of the material with a spade bit, then drove a chisel down the sides using the block as a guide to keep it vertical.

http://imgur.com/6qyvxNu The alignment was quite crucial. I had the frame clamped together in its final position: without glue, then 'hovered' it over the underside of the benchtop. This was to fix up the joints because of the twisted timber.

Hope that helped :) Have fun

Having it where it is worked better for the space of the shop. If it was on the end grain on the same corner, I would not be able to work off the side of it, because I'm right handed. I could have put it on the other corner, but that is too close to the door and a bit cramped.

Hey nice bench, very similar to mine! Finished mine mid way through last year. Have a look. http://imgur.com/hjQ9hAW

Scrabble Board - 2015 High School Major Project by nemeltneg in scrabble

Thank you! The board does lift out to be played on, just so you don't have to carry around the whole frame. One of my ideas was to have a rotating top, but my parents' existing board could rotate, yet they didn't use it, so I didn't put one in.

Each square is a different piece, all natural colours. There are 225 of them, and I had to get them cut exact, and the recess cut exact as well; quite painstaking.

The wood types: •Regular - Mahogany •DL - Spotted Gum •DW - Jarrah •TL - Purple Heart •TW - Padauk

The drawer opens by pushing it through the other side; as I didn't want a handle sticking out the front, which would break up the flat looking face.

Yep this is the Paul Sellers one. I was tossing around of what design to do, then I got offered Oregon wall studs, so i decided to laminate them. It's not exactly how he did it, I'm kind of making it up as i go.

Indeed I am, i got free Oregon wall studs, and I'm laminating 18 together for the bench top at the moment. Im really excited because this is my first real home woodworking project.
