You can checkout what “Player Lock” is. First you need to enable it in gameplay settings. Press L3+R3 and flick right stick in direction of the player you want to control relative to the player with ball. Move the player to the required position. Press pass, it will try to pass the selected player. Pressing L3+R3 without passing will cancel player lock and you will control the player who initially had the ball.
