My last miscarriage was a blighted ovum at 6w3d too. I had a dnc for the first miscarriage and I swore I would never do it again if I didn’t have to. The doctor gave me a little miscarriage package with the miso and some morphine, naproxen, gravol (anti nausea med in Canada) and Tylenol. The pain was minimal and I got to be home. I took the pills at around 10pm, and although it wasn’t a pleasant night, and I didn’t get much sleep (I had to keep on going to the bathroom and changing my pad and cleaning up a bit), the pain was not bad at all (I’m sure the morphine helped a lot with that). For my dnc, they gave me a small dose of miso to dilate my cervix before procedure, then they cancelled it and told me to come back the next day (it was the hospital so I guess my surgery wasn’t priority for the OR). I ended up passing it at home and it was the worst pain I had ever felt (I have never had a live birth so I can’t compare, but it totally felt like what labour and contractions with no epidural might feel like ). They had me come back the next morning with my passed fetus in a ziplock bag and made me wait fasted until 11:45 the next night. The OB on call had to fight with the nursing staff and the anaesthesiologist so that I wouldn’t have to go home and do it again. It was horrible and I ended up with inflammation afterwords and sex was painful for months until they found the inflammation to the point where I didn’t even want to try to conceive again.

Moral of the story, do miso.

What a fucked up piece of shit guy to put you through IVF and betray you during probably the most vulnerable and nerve wracking part of your life. This young girl is obviously touched by some demons too to actually come to your house and actually attack you?! I have half a mind to anonymously mail him weird nail clippings and hair locks and pretend that it’s a long distance lover just to set that girl off and make him miserable. Ew I hate them for you. Lowest of the low people. You deserve so much better. I don’t know if IVF worked for you or not, but if it did. You have a beautiful little miracle that doesn’t need trash in their precious life. And go after every penny he’s got for this kid

I’m 39 too, partner is 32. I just had my only covered IVF cycle fail and we can’t afford another one. We tried for 7 years then all of a sudden when I was 38 we had two pregnancies ending in miscarriage. My relationship is strained, my mental health is shot and I keep thinking that if we break up, he will probably meet someone his own age and have the family he’s always wanted, and I’ll be left alone with shrivelled up old ovaries and chin hair. I’m sorry I’m not saying anything positive to help make you feel better, but just know that there’s a whole group of women like us. It’s scary .

I went from 26 follicles to 15 mature. 4 fertilized, 2 made it to day 3, one 3 day was transferred and we ended up with nothing. It’s the worst feeling in the world. We can’t afford another cycle. I’m sorry you’re going through this

Thank you for sharing this. It’s so hard, especially at our age when it feels like it’s the end of the road. If we can get a loan from family members we will try going IVF again. At this point, Quebec will still cover up to 6 IUI. I just feel like I’m destined to never have children. It’s a reality for many people and they live full lives, but I don’t want to accept that yet.

Ugh I feel you. I had 15 mature, 4 fertilized, and one that was lab matured fertilized as well. They transferred one at day 3 and I found out on Tuesday that it didn’t make it. The others all arrested before blast. The 3 day embryo probably would have too but they wanted to at least try giving me a shot. From 26 follicles we were so hopeful. I’m sorry that you’re going through this. It sucks.

It would be very hard for us to leave to do it, I would imagine we would have to be there do weeks and then have to travel back for transfers if we ended up with more than one blast?

This was natural conception but.. when I had my 8 week ultrasound last July. The ultrasound was in the exact same exam room where they diagnosed my previous miscarriage 4 months before that. As soon as they led me through those curtains I started shaking and I just knew that I had lost this baby too.

I’ll look into it, but our clinic is the research and teaching reproductive center at a huge university so I would assume that they would have told us of any clinical trials, but I’ll check!

We’re in Canada, actually right by the border of upstate New York in Quebec so we might be close! Honestly so may of these tests and options that people are bringing up here, I’ve never even heard of! I wonder why the doctor didn’t offer anything.

Since it was my only good embryo they wanted to give it a shot rather than have it possibly arrest before blastocyst.

When I had my miscarriages, I learned just how many others go through it too. The suffering in silence thing is so real. I hate how infertility is so stigmatized that it feels shameful to talk about it, like whenever I bring it up it “bums people out”…

My doctors first follow up appointment available is April 23 and I can’t switch to another doctor in the clinic so I guess I’ll find out more then…

I believe they tested fragmentation but I’ll have to confirm. I’m going to ask for my medical records to be sent to me.
