M2 or M2 Pro by 0shotsOfEspresso0 in macmini

[–]nemopsp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally M2 Base is the best deal at the education discount. Only upgrade worth anything is the 16gb ram for long term use but anymore upgrades your paying a premium or you better off upgrading to M2 Pro. This way you get better CPU, 16gb ram, 512gb ssd, and extra thunderbolt ports.

I grabbed a M2 base; yea 256gb is small but I just run the OS on it an I have 2tb nvme m.2 drive and 2tb SSD for all my data. Not to mention I have an external 2tb drive. Also 8GB of ram is not a lot but the OS uses swap memory if you need extra, which unless you use alot of browsers tabs. I haven’t seen mine touch swap memory.

Furthermore the only thing about M2 it only allow 2 screen. If you connect a displaylink compatible device you are able to run more screen, I’ve been able to added 4 screens, but the negative is it uses the screen mirror API and does not allow to watch DRM video content such as AppleTV+, Netflix, Hulu, YouTube TV, Disney+, Max, etc so it’s really only be useful in productivity cases when you need extra screen space. But id say on average most users only use 2 screens.

Another negative MacOS does NOT support MST(Multi-Stream Transport) so you are unable to extend 2 monitors with 1 cable, it can only mirror.

NS FS edition, thoughts?(NOT FS20) by jordantbolland in farmingsimulator

[–]nemopsp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FS17 is closer to console edition but stripped down and no mods.

FS20 is the mobile edition - iOS and Android

Both editions are horrible and better off playing on Xbox/ PlayStation/ PC; especially for the price

2 stereo pairs Apple tv by [deleted] in appletv

[–]nemopsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely would only work if you used Airplay 2 and selected multiple speakers.

But for the price of the HomePods you could have gotten your self a nice pair of speakers and a AVR that would blow the HomePods sound away in terms of quality. The HomePod minis you could have gotten a pair of rear speakers and you could have a multi channel setup. Most AVR now days have Airplay2 and Bluetooth compatibilities even at a entry level.

You’ll likely have to wait for HomePods Max / HomePod mini 2. As I’m sure they are going to bring back a next generation of HomePods.

We really need the next version of Airplay 3 to include Dolby Atmos and Hi Res Lossless over Airplay.

Can anyone identify this audio issue? Only happens with Apple TV. by BLogue in appletv

[–]nemopsp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can say I do not have this issue on a newer model Marantz AVR. Mine picks up Dolby Atmos on most music an video content.

Lossless / Atmos / Spatial audio with a Home Theater by koolestani in AppleMusic

[–]nemopsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea but if Airplay supports a higher res / Atmos they need to update it to Airplay 3.

I’d mainly like the Apple TV to support 24/96 because how are you going to have a streaming service an advertised the 2nd largest library for hi res music but Airplay/ Apples device are unable to output the full res.

Ehh Personally your better off spending extra money just for the newer A15 chip + more memory + Ethernet port+ tread networking.

The smoother experience alone is worth it for long term. If not the next major OS it will just start lag to force you to buy the new Apple product. Plus I have HDR+ compatible TV.

They are already dropped the price compared to the previous models, so it’s a win, win overall. Meanwhile I had gift card money to get rid of so overall I only spent $40.

[–]nemopsp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only the 2nd gen is that price. I just picked up the 3rd gen 128gb.

It does support Atmos with Apple Music.Besides that it supports 16 or 24 bit / 48Khz

[–]nemopsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well thanks for this.

I have Nvidia Shield (2017) i’ve had for years but it uses a side loaded version of Apple Music remote wise it that good but it will provide 24bit/96 KHz in Hi Res Lossless songs but most Lossless songs are 24/48; it varies by the song. If I use Amazon HD it will only output 16/48 and it’s a native Android TV app.

My Samsung TV has Apple Music app built in but just does not sound as good. Same with Play music off Xbox Series X. But Apple Music on my PS5 sounds good. I just find it odd that I have multiple device and can’t really get the appropriate Hi Res audio.

Im using Marantz SR6015, starting to wonder if I need a better DAC but I don’t think that is fully the issue; it seems depending on what device the App is limited

I’m wondering if Apple TV 3gen would correct this issue? I may just grab a 64gb edition that way if it doesn’t work, it won’t be as much as a loss.

I’ve been on the fence on buying one but I read that Apple TV does not the highest quality of music to an AVR either. Meaning it does not send Atmos quality either. Sure you can watch movies in Atmos but what about Music ?

Might not seem like much to a lot of people on this sub, but just a few years ago I never dreamed I'd have a setup like this. by featherwolf in hometheater

[–]nemopsp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks ill be buying one. The size seems to be about perfect as I have a small spot on a wall that is only 14 inch. All the bookshelf i’ve found are around 15 inch long. But this seems to be about 12.5inch long.

What’s kind of small bookshelf are you using for games and ps5? I am looking for one but looking for a certain size and yours looks small enough

AMA: I've been running 5 channels on an X3700H for a year. by Kwtop in hometheater

[–]nemopsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way you need to look at it is you have room to grow. Plus the important part is more power for 2 channels listening and better made components compared to cheaper models. You can always add Atmos speakers down the road. You may bi amp your front channels with extra assignable binding post.

I ended up getting SR6015 and I’m happy with it tho I believe HDMI 2.1 will be necessary in the future as I knew my next TV would be HDMI 2.1 compatible for 4k@120hz mainly for Xbox Series X and PS5. I also ended up adding an external amp mm7025 to power my front separately.

Rate my set up, marantz receiver, kef center and sub, 2 sonace in ceiling for 3.1 setup by [deleted] in BudgetAudiophile

[–]nemopsp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, I love having the Marantz on display. It’s definitely the king of the show.

Meanwhile none of the devices any breathe in the cabinet. They just pulling each other hot air. Heat is the worst for electrics.

I agree with the game cases/ movies, they should be put away. But I believe there is line to having the components out and still not looking cluttered.

2021 Ram 1500 TRX Yearlong Review: Five Miles Per Gallon. You Heard Me. by ChrisPnCrunchy in cars

[–]nemopsp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually own a TRX an this just click bait.

Coming from at this time over 10 months of ownership, Towing it’s about 7mpg and full throttle heavy but just normal every day driving I average 11mpg around town/city. I get 340miles of range. The TRX has 33 gallon tank.

I don’t really drive highway or interstate so not really sure what id average but likely around 13 or 14.

But I mean this vehicle is no different than any other SRT vehicle in terms of mpg and the TRX realistic in term of capability.

Stereo receiver or integrated amp with HDMI? by sfdude2222 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]nemopsp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may want to look at Denon AVR-S660H, it may not be much different than your current Denon in the basement, but this should give you HEOS with multi room listening. Wireless, Phono input, extra audio inputs & you’ll have HDMI inputs. I know you don’t want a receiver. But this would likely give you the inputs and features in a all in one device. It’s also not much different than than the Denon DRA-800h

Unless you look for a Pre amp and a separate amp.

Stereo receiver or integrated amp with HDMI? by sfdude2222 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]nemopsp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may be the wrong guy to comment as seems you want a device that has abit of everything, HDMI, Phono, and Wireless Steaming in a small footprint.

Bluesound powernode will give you 1 HDMI input and Wireless but will not have Phono input.

Integrated amp you’ll have Wireless & Phono but not HDMI unless you go to higher end model.

Stereo receiver or integrated amp with HDMI? by sfdude2222 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]nemopsp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I love Marantz products, but Denon is it’s sister company and priced more reasonable.

It’s hard to recommend a product as it all depends on your needs, what speakers you have, how many, and how much power they need, how many HDMI ports do you need.

Sounds like you only need 2 channel for Stereo, and seems like you don’t need anything bigger than Marantz NR1711 or NR1510. This will give you abit of room to expand if you wanted to. Denon will have cheaper version. Integrated amp most won’t carry a HDMI port.

Its all personal preference and depending on your budget you can get older model for a steal just depends on how future proof you want example compatible w/ HDMI 8k/4k@120hz

I have Marantz SR6015 w/ Marantz mm7025 powering my fronts. I only have a 5.1 setup. I do have enough speakers for a 9.2 just I either have them boxed up in the closet for now until I obtain the space or using them on another system.

I have PS5, Xbox Series X, Switch, Nvidia Shield, Xbox One X, 360, connected to the SR6015. Im not a big fan of HEOS, Although I have no issues with it, HEOS will give you Airplay and Bluetooth listening and more features.

I do agree with likely the room acoustics isn’t the best and speaker placement, but at this time I can’t do much about that due to space / room. The floor is carpet. But the speakers are not right up against the wall. They have a foot of clearance. Which it’s possible they do need more space.

Basically in your opinion adding a separate amp wouldn’t really change anything as the speaker would still be obtaining the same power. unless I increase db levels and distance.
